Job summary

Robin Lynn & Lee (in collaboration with DFDL) seeks an Associate to join our Kuala Lumpur office, embedded in a collaborative, multicultural environment alongside experienced lawyers and corporate advisers, with clear pathways for career progression and professional development.

The successful candidate will undertake corporate advisory tasks, including drafting advices, opinions and contracts, managing due diligence, and assisting with closing and client matters.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Law degree (LL.B) from a reputable school and be admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaysia.
• 2–3 years PQE as a corporate lawyer in a reputable law firm.
• Excellent technical knowledge of corporate law and practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking corporate advisory activities, including drafting advices, opinions and contracts; negotiating contracts; and supporting due diligence and closing.
• Supervising and managing client matters.
• Reporting to Partners and supervising lawyers; handling fee proposals and invoicing.
• Participating in learning and development initiatives and business development activities.

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Practice Area: Corporate

Salary Range: RM7,500-RM8,500 per month

Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking all activities typical of a corporate legal adviser, including drafting advices, opinions and contracts, negotiating contracts, managing or undertaking due diligence investigations and assisting with closing;
• Supervising and managing client matters;
• Reporting to and taking instructions from Partners, Senior Associates, and any supervising legal adviser of the Firm;
• Drafting and delivering fee proposals, reviewing and revising invoices, and assisting in the collection of outstanding invoices;
• Participating actively in the Firm’s learning and development initiatives;
• Assisting with and participating in the Firm’s business development and marketing efforts, including client pitches, attending and speaking at seminars, researching and writing articles and attending business related functions; and
• Participating in knowledge management, professional development and Firm administrative activities as requested.

Candidate Requirements

• Candidate must possess a Law degree (LL.B) from a reputable school with strong academic track record, and be admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaysia.
• 2 to 3 years PQE as a corporate lawyer in a reputable law firm.
• Excellent technical knowledge of the laws and practices.
• Strong analytical and technical ability and be able to draw on practical experience to deliver practical solutions.
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English; proficiency in Mandarin will be added as advantage.
• Able to handle matters independently and work under pressure.
• Organised and resourceful.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite.
• Written assessment and references will be required.
