Job summary

Great Eastern Life Malaysia is seeking an Associate, Business Finance to join the CFOs Office in Kuala Lumpur. You will assist in ALM, liquidity, capital management and cost optimization activities while aligning with regulatory requirements and strategic financial objectives.

You will work with actuarial, investment and finance teams to analyse capital efficiency, prepare SMT/ALCO reports, monitor expenses and support opportunities for value creation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s level qualification in Statistics, Mathematics or Actuarial Studies.
  • Actuarial exams passed (IFoA/IOA/SOA).
  • 1–2 years of related working experience.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Tableau knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in formulating Asset Liability Matching (ALM) optimisations.
  • Coordinate annual SAA/TAA optimization with relevant teams.
  • Support regulatory capital management optimisation via ALM initiatives.
  • Analyse capital efficiency and monitor it by line of business.
  • Prepare analyses for SMT and ALCO meetings.
  • Help manage company expenses and identify potential savings.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks assigned.
  • Monitor industry trends in regulatory compliance and risk.

The Role:
  • Assist in formulating the Asset Liability Matching (ALM) Optimisation in the perspectives of liquidity, earnings volatility, reinsurance, capital and free surplus management.
  • Coordinate the annual exercise on the optimization of Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocation (SAA/TAA) with the support from Actuarial, Investment and Finance Department.
  • Assist in formulating the regulatory capital management optimization via the ALM Identify and initiate and support the inforce initiatives and business cases for business opportunities optimization.
  • Analyse and monitor the capital efficiency through Return on Regulatory Capital measure by line of business.
  • Prepare the relevant analysis and monitoring, where required in SMT and ALCO.
  • Assist in managing Company's expenses and identifying potential savings for the Company.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
  • Highlight any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practice.
  • Other responsibilities entailed
The Person:
  • Possessed a recognized Tertiary in Statistics / Maths / Actuarial Studies Professional
  • Passed some actuarial exams in Faculty of Actuaries, Scotland / Institute of Actuaries, England / Institute of Actuaries, Australia / Society of Actuaries, US.
  • 1 - 2 years related working experience.
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal
  • Very strong analytical reasoning and data orientation.
  • Proactive, Self-motivated, result-oriented and solutions focus.
  • A good team player who is keen to learn and able to work independently.
  • Good technical and analytical skills.
  • Fresh graduate can be considered but with good results.
  • Knowledge in Tableau is a plus.
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
