Job summary

Great Eastern Malaysia is seeking an experienced actuary to lead reporting and analysis of IFRS17 profits, ROE, and CSM balances. You will coordinate with Strategy, Actuarial, and Investment teams to optimize KPI outcomes and provide timely updates to stakeholders.

The role requires a bachelor in statistics/maths/actuarial studies, progression in actuarial exams, and over six years of actuarial experience. You will mentor juniors, champion risk management, and stay ahead of regulatory trends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Statistics/ Mathematics/ Actuarial Studies.
  • Near qualified or good progress in actuarial exams in one of the actuarial associations recognized by BNM.
  • More than 6 years of actuarial related experience.
  • Knowledge on: (i) Actuarial models (Advance); (ii) Actuarial theories, practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review reporting on IFRS17 profit arising, ROE, CSM balance, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize financial results.
  • Analyze profit arising and share findings with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct and review business planning and forecast analysis of company KPIs and provide timely updates, including strategies to close gaps.
  • Review user acceptance test for Prophet modelling.
  • Coordinate with Strategy, Actuarial, Investment and others to identify and implement KPI optimization strategies.
  • Assist Head of Department and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory compliance risks and mitigate them accordingly.
  • Stay updated on industry trends in regulatory compliance and emerging threats and technologies to safeguard the company.
  • Highlight potential concerns/risks and share best risk management practices.

Job description

To prepare and review reporting and analysis on Financial results (e.g. IFRS17 profit arising, return on shareholder equity, CSM balance etc); and work with relevant stakeholders on initiatives that can optimize the Financial results.

  • Review and analyze IFRS17 profit arising, return on shareholder equity, CSM balance etc.
  • Analyze profit arising and share the findings with key stakeholders.
  • Perform and review business planning and forecast analysis of company’s KPIs and provide timely updates to key stakeholders on the outcome, including strategies/ plans on how to close the gaps.
  • Review user acceptance test for Prophet modelling.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders from various departments, e.g. Strategy, Actuarial, Investment and etc, in identifying and implementing strategies that optimize company’s KPIs.
  • Assist Head of Department in any other assignments as and when required.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  • Highlights any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
