Job summary

Smartlink Engineering Sdn. Bhd. in Shah Alam seeks a Costing Assistant Manager to support commercial activities, prepare accurate quotations, and manage costing data for customer projects. Initially based at Seksyen 32, this role will transition to the new Sijangkang facility in 2027.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Production and Sales to deliver competitive pricing, analyze costs, maintain databases, and contribute to NPI and project transfers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of costing, quotation, or purchasing experience.
• Experience in contract manufacturing or EMS/electronics is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of product costing, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP and Excel for costing and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, BOMs, specs and prepare quotations.
• Ensure quotations cover material, labour, overhead, tooling and pricing.
• Analyze costs and variances to improve profitability.
• Source suppliers and negotiate quotes to achieve competitive pricing.
• Support NPI and project transfers with timely costing input.

Smartlink Engineering Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian contract manufacturing company with manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam (Headquarters) and Penang. We specialize in cable harnesses, control boxes and panels, electrical and mechanical module assemblies, and system integration, providing one-stop manufacturing solutions to customers across various industries.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Costing Assistant Manager to support our commercial activities, product costing, quotation management, and customer projects.

The successful candidate will initially be based at our Seksyen 32, Shah Alam facility before transitioning to our new Sijangkang facility in Q1 2027.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Quotation

• Review customer RFQs, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Prepare accurate and competitive quotations based on material, labour, manufacturing, tooling, and overhead costs.
• Review and revise quotations based on customer requirements, engineering changes, and commercial negotiations.
• Liaise with customers on pricing, quotations, product requirements, and project-related matters.
• Work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Sales teams to ensure timely and commercially viable quotations.

Costing & Analysis

• Prepare detailed product costing and ensure accuracy of costing assumptions and pricing.
• Analyse material costs, labour, overheads, manufacturing processes, and other cost elements.
• Conduct cost and variance analysis to monitor profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain costing databases, quotation records, and historical pricing information.
• Provide costing reports and commercial analysis to Management when required.
• Source and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, and technical capability.
• Obtain and compare supplier quotations and negotiate where appropriate to achieve competitive pricing.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI), project transfer, and other project activities through timely costing and commercial input.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external parties to resolve commercial and project-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in costing, quotation, commercial, purchasing, project coordination, or manufacturing.
• Experience in contract manufacturing, EMS, electronics, electrical, mechanical, or engineering-related industries is an advantage.
• Good understanding of product costing, BOM, quotation preparation, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in supplier sourcing, quotation comparison, and supplier evaluation is an advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Able to work independently and collaborate effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
