What’s the job?
Perform entry-level human resources and administrative duties in support of the hotel’s Human Resources programs and philosophies. Provide basic employee assistance, often serving as initial point of contact for human resources-related matters.
- Creation of and work within the established Human Resources department budget and control expenses.
- Monitoring staffing to manage costs.
- Assist in checking through the time sheets and ensuring that all overtime and shift allowances are calculated accurately
- Assist in generating reports for month-end management reporting and closing.

- Manage the on-line recruitment through the Hotel Website or other job portals
- Site inspections for schools, colleges, and universities
- Correct and timely placement of internal and external advertisements
- Manage the on-boarding and off-boarding process for all new hires and resignees.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback on reasons for turnover
- Adherence to pre, during and post-employment checklists
- Ensure all colleagues awareness and adherence to HR Policies and procedures, as well as government regulations such as the Employment Act
- Developing work practices that are in line with OH &S policies
- Assist in performance management system of all Band 7-10 colleagues
- Assist in managing the employment cycle of recruitment, induction, training, development, and succession for all Band 7-10 colleagues
- Assist with line staff counselling and career management
- First Aid Courses, OH&S, Workplace Rehabilitation courses.
- Issue invitations to attend internal and external programs
- Maintain records of training attendance
- Implement Orientation
- Promote and facilitate cross training, job rotation, and multi skilling
- Conduct training for line Associates
- Initiate programs which foster good work relations such as Social and Recreation Committees
- Maintenance of employee files
- Maintenance and administration of OH&S (occupational health & safety) work place cases, as well as the management of rehabilitation programs
- Manage standardized responses to correspondence
- Prepares and administers detailed induction program for new staff
- Regularly communicates with staff and maintains good relations and share such feedback with the management team
- Manage standardized responses to correspondence
- Interacts with guests and individuals outside the hotel including, but not limited to, current and potential clients, owning company representatives, suppliers, competitors and other members of the local community.
Guest Experience
- Assists in maintaining a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversees their implementation through ongoing training
- Coaches, counsels and disciplines staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance
Responsible Business
- Adhere to time frames.
- HR Information System and Time Clock Management System administration.
- Provides input for probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
