Job summary

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) is seeking an Operations Assistant to support the smooth operation of the Homes of Hope in Penang. You will engage with patients, caregivers and external stakeholders, and assist with care, education and community programmes.

The role covers administration, engagement and care programme support, with duties ranging from patient registration to donor liaison and community outreach. This is a community-focused, non-profit position based in Penang.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of the Homes of Hope.
• Manage patient registration, records and occupancy.
• Coordinate patient referrals to NCSM’s psychosocial support services.
• Assist with patient transportation and shuttle services when required.
• Assist with procurement and prepare daily, monthly and annual reports.
• Maintain good relationships with patients, caregivers, hospitals and healthcare providers.
• Liaise with relevant NCSM departments and support the Home Coordinator.
• Build and maintain relationships with communities, NGOs, companies, schools and universities.
• Promote the Homes of Hope and its services to hospitals, clinics and the community.
• Organize monthly cancer awareness and community engagement activities.
• Promote the Homes of Hope through social media and other communication channels.
• Engage and develop relationships with donors, supporters and partners.
• Assist in increasing monetary and in-kind donations.
• Prepare monthly engagement reports.
• Support wellbeing programmes for children, adults with cancer and caregivers.
• Assist with counselling, therapy, sharing sessions and support groups.
• Support public health, cancer awareness and community outreach programmes.
• Assist in preparing educational and promotional materials.
• Source sponsorships for programmes and activities when required.
• Perform other duties assigned by Management.

• Ensure facilities, equipment and safety standards are well maintained.
• Manage patient registration, records and occupancy.
• Coordinate patient referrals to NCSM’s psychosocial support services.
• Assist with patient transportation and shuttle services when required.
• Assist with procurement and prepare daily, monthly and annual reports.
• Maintain good relationships with patients, caregivers, hospitals and healthcare providers.
