Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Fire & Life Safety Manager to lead the hotel's FLS program in collaboration with the Engineering and Security teams. You will monitor, test, and maintain fire safety standards to ensure guest and staff safety at all times.

You will plan and implement Fire Prevention and Emergency Procedures, supervise contractors, coordinate regulatory inspections, and train team members on safety practices in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fire Safety, OSH, engineering or risk management.
• 3–5 years in fire safety, security, engineering or emergency response.
• Excellent English and Bahasa Malaysia language skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Lead and uphold the Fire and Life Safety (FLS) program for the hotel.
• Oversee FLS functions: prevention, hazards elimination, system testing, and crisis plans.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate FLS activities with Engineering and Security.
• Secure permits, coordinate inspections, and document compliance.

Assistant Fire & Life Safety Manager

The Assistant Fire & Life Safety Manager reports to the Director of Security and Director of Engineering and assists in monitoring and maintaining the building’s fire safety standards independently and effectively.

What You Will Do:

• Responsible for taking active leadership in managing and upholding the Fire and Life Safety (FLS) in the Hotel.
• Responsible for overseeing and managing Hotel FLS functions as follows: Fire Prevention Plan; Fire Hazards Elimination; FLS System inspection, testing and maintenance; and Fire Emergency Plan (Crisis Plan).

Fire Safety Management

• Plan, organise, lead, and control FLS program and initiatives
• Regular meetings with Director of Engineering and Director of Security
• Secure all corresponding permits and certifications from local authorities.
• Complete and submit the required FLS report.
• Ensure smooth coordination and operation of all activities.
• Ensure that FLS activities comply to Four Seasons Corporate Policy and Fire Life Safety Standards.
• Supervises engineering and/or specialist contractors in conducting testing of Fire and Life Safety systems in compliance with Corporate and local regulations.
• Document the system testing and maintenance with standard corporate logs/checklist.
• Ensure valid authorities are in place and up‑to‑date. Assist with regulatory inspections e.g: MOTAC, BOMBA, DBKL, DOSH etc
• Undertakes any reasonable tasks and secondary duties as directed by Director of Engineering and Director of Security.
• Create a schedule for Fire Alarm Testing ensuring that all systems are working correctly. In case of any issues, raise to Engineering and liaise till fixed.

Fire Prevention

• To establish and implement fire prevention plan to maintain high level of fire safety awareness in the Hotel.
• To establish Fire Safety training program for Hotel employee
• To ensure that required safety training is implemented

Fire Hazard Elimination

• To establish fire safety inspection programs to eliminate, minimise and control potential sources of fire or fire hazards.
• To keep and update Fire Hazard Assessment Records
• To monitor fire escape routes for any obstruction and shall report any violations in writing.

Fire System Inspection & Maintenance

• Conduct the FLS system inspection, testing and maintenance program that complies with Four Seasons Hotel’s RACI policy, conforms to equipment manufacturer’s instruction, and the requirement of local Fire Authority.
• Ensure that complete authority and documentation of FLS system and components are available and updated.
• To establish and update the master RACI plan outlining the over-all activities, frequency and schedule. Implement them accordingly.
• Ensure that FLS system impairment procedures are implemented effectively.

Fire Emergency Procedures

• To establish a plan for response and communicate in the event of a fire emergency
• To establish a training plan for the fire Emergency Response Team (ERT)to fight incipient fires.
• Establish Emergency evacuation procedures and set programs to conduct fire drills.
• Establish a procedure to account for all staff in the Assembly Area after emergency evacuation has been completed.
• Arrange for the Fire Authority to participate in training and fire drills.
• Maintaining records of all training, fire drill test, and recommendations for improvements.

What You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Fire Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fire and life safety, security, engineering, or emergency response, preferably within a luxury hotel, hospitality, commercial, or mixed‑use property.
• Professional certifications such as Fire Safety Manager, Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of fire prevention systems, life safety regulations, emergency response procedures, evacuation planning, and local fire codes.
• Experience with fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, smoke control systems, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, and other life safety equipment.
• Familiarity with risk assessments, incident investigations, safety inspections, audits, and compliance reporting.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, fire legislation, and hotel emergency management procedures.
• Ability to develop, conduct, and facilitate fire safety training, emergency drills, and awareness programs for employees.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external authorities.
• Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and safety documentation.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies or high‑pressure situations.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends, public holidays, and on‑call assignments as required.
• Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English language.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write Bahasa Malaysia.
• Must have the right to work in Malaysia.
