Job summary

Anchor Consulting in Kuala Lumpur seeks an experienced accounting leader to oversee the accounting team and ensure the full set of accounts is maintained across AR, AP, GL, bank reconciliations and month-end closings.

You will drive a robust monthly close with accruals and prepayments, prepare SOPL, SOFP and SOCF accurately, strengthen internal controls, and coordinate with auditors and tax agents to support governance and IPO readiness.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with audit background.
  • Strong technical understanding of SOPL, SOFP and SOCF.
  • Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, month-end closing, cut-off, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Experience dealing with auditors, tax agents, banks and financial institutions.
  • Proficient in AutoCount and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting team and maintain full set of accounts across AR, AP, GL, bank reconciliations and month-end closings.
  • Prepare SOPL, SOFP and SOCF accurately.

  • Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and investigate variances.
  • Develop, implement and strengthen internal controls and finance SOPs for governance and IPO readiness.
  • Ensure timely SST, withholding tax, corporate tax, audit compliance.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks and external parties.
  • Coordinate with FP&A on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning.
  • Monitor cash flow, collections, payments and banking matters.

Job description

Oversee the accounting team and ensure full set of accounts are properly maintained, including AR, AP, GL, bank reconciliation, and month-end closing.

Ensure accurate preparation and understanding of SOPL, SOFP, and SOCF and ensure accounts are accurate and completed on time.

Drive a proper monthly closing process, including accruals, prepayments and other necessary adjustments to ensure monthly accounts reflect the actual performance of the period.

Review monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and supporting schedules, and investigate unusual movements or discrepancies.

Develop, implement, and strengthen internal controls, finance SOPs, approval processes and proper documentation to improve governance and support IPO readiness.

Ensure timely compliance with SST, withholding tax, corporate tax, audit and other statutory requirements.

Liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers and other external parties, and ensure outstanding matters are properly followed through.

Work closely with the FP&A Analyst on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning and financial analysis.

Monitor cash flow, collections, payments and banking matters, and escalated financial or control issues to management.

Coordinate accounting team responsibilities and reporting deadlines while continuously improving finance and accounting processes.

Job Requirements:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with audit background.

Strong technical understanding of SOPL, SOFP and SOCF, including how accounting entries and adjustments impact the financial statements.

Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, month-end closing, cut-off, reconciliations and financial reporting.

Good knowledge of SST, withholding tax, audit and tax compliance.

Strong understanding of internal controls and finance SOPs and experience in strengthening controls or preparing companies for audit, listing, or corporate exercises is an advantage.

Experience dealing with auditors, tax agents, banks and financial institutions.

Proficient in AutoCount and Microsoft Excel.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify accounting errors, control weaknesses and unusual financial movements.

Able to work independently, take ownership of reporting deadlines, and coordinate the accounting team effectively.
