Job summary

Tentacle Tech in Malaysia is seeking an experienced AS400 Support Engineer for a 12-month contract to keep post-trade back-office systems running smoothly in a sensitive financial environment. You will deliver Level 2/3 production support and drive enhancements across the trading ecosystem.

The role requires deep AS/400 expertise, DB2/400, SQL, RPG, and CL, plus API/middleware integration. You will address high-availability, security, and recovery needs while collaborating with global teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of technical support experience with trading or financial services applications.
• Expert-level proficiency in implementing and managing AS400 systems.
• Advanced knowledge of DB2/400, complex SQL, and data mapping for financial transactions.
• Deep understanding of capital markets, custody, clearing, and post-trade settlement cycles.
• Experience with high-availability tools, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging standards and integration protocols like MQ.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 support for production incidents across multiple global sites.
• Design and maintain software modules using RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL.
• Perform OS upgrades, manage LPAR configurations, and handle patch management.
• Lead design and development of post-trade applications for trade matching, settlement, and payment processing.
• Integrate legacy AS/400 applications with modern platforms via APIs, web services, or middleware like IBM App Connect Enterprise or MQ.
• Ensure systems meet regulatory requirements for data integrity, security, and disaster recovery.
• Coordinate testing, deployment, and post-deployment verification of enhancements.
