Job summary

SJ Group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a qualified Architect with at least 4 years of experience to lead design development in a BIM environment. You will assist the Project Architect with pre-design analysis, feasibility studies, and documentation for submission, tender and construction, ensuring compliance with building codes and client requirements.

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape and the Microsoft Office suite is essential, with Rhino and Grasshopper or Python being a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture (LAM Part 2 equivalent) with min 4 years’ experience.
• Well-versed in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Enscape, Photoshop & Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of Rhino preferable.
• Knowledge of Grasshopper, Python or AI-enabled design tools is advantageous.
• Strong written, verbal and graphic communication and presentation skills.
• Organised, responsible and able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in a BIM environment and assist the Project Architect with design development and documentation.
• Coordinate schematic and detailed design, and prepare drawings and specifications for submissions, tenders and constructions.
• Liaise with consultants and stakeholders on coordination matters and attend design/technical meetings.
• Attend periodical site inspections and meetings; ensure alignment with timelines, quality and regulations.
• Assist with pre-design analysis, feasibility studies, and ensure project aligns with client requirements.

Job description

• Your general role and responsibilities will involve work in a BIM environment.
• Assist the Project Architect with various aspects of the project, including pre-design analysis and feasibility studies, design, technical compliance, project documentation and implementation.
• Ensure project aligns with timelines, quality and regulatory standards.
• Assist the Project Architect to coordinate schematic and detailed design development efforts and prepare drawings, documentation and specifications fit for Authority Submission, Tender and Construction documentation in accordance with building codes, Authority guidelines, company standards and project and client requirements.
• Liaise with consultants and other project stakeholders on project coordination matters.
• Attend project-related meetings & participate in design and technical discussions.
• Attend and participate in periodical site inspections & meetings.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Project Director/Architect related to the nature of the work scope.

Job Specification

• Must possess a Degree in Architecture (equivalent to LAM Part 2) with a minimum of 4 years’ experience.
• Well-versed in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Enscape, Photoshop & Microsoft Office. Working knowledge in Rhino is preferable.
• Knowledge in other parametric scripting tools (Grasshopper, Python etc.) and/or AI-enabled architectural design tools are advantageous.
• Good written, verbal and graphic communication and presentation skills.
• Organised, responsible and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-centric environment.
• Competent knowledge of architectural details and working drawings.
• Flair for design and able to conceptualise good design proposals.
• Possesses a good understanding of the Uniform Building By-Laws and Authorities guidelines and requirements.
