Job summary

Onto Innovation Inc. seeks a skilled Applications Engineer to provide on-site and remote support for steppers in customers' manufacturing processes. You will assist in solving complex application problems, perform experiments, and help determine equipment specifications.

The role involves collaboration with the Applications Lab in Taiwan and HQ for live demonstrations, with up to 50% travel to customer locations. Strong English communication and lab experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Master or Associate degree preferred; will consider experience vs degree.
• >5 years process engineering experience with wafer or panel manufacturing facility.
• >3 years hands on experience with inspection tools (DFLY or FFLY a plus) and good knowledge of inspection & metrology.
• Support inspection demo lab experience.
• Good English written and verbal communication skills essential.
• Ability to work with limited direction and take initiative to solve problems.
• Can function under pressure.
• Can work with team in the field without any problem.

Responsibilities

• Provide both on-site and remote applications support to customers.
• Assist customers in solving problems related to the application of Onto Innovation steppers to their manufacturing processes.
• Supports the Applications Lab in Taiwan and HQ for live demo with customer and provides execution support when required.
• Interface with external customers and internal departments to best determine equipment specifications.
• Perform experiments and/or analytical investigations within guidelines supplied by senior engineering in HQ.
• Report on results of experiments, tests and studies, provide preliminary interpretation.
• Aid in design and development of new equipment or redesign of existing systems to meet customer requirements.
• Communicate with external sales personnel and internal departments to determine customer needs.
• Apply good problem solve skills to support customer process related issues and applications issues.
• Will be required to work with Marketing to generate data for conferences and magazine articles
• Demonstrate systems to customers and provide customer training to ensure systems are being used effectively.
• Up to 50% travel is required with extended stays at customer locations.
