Job summary

Technology Bucket in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Application Development professional to join the Insurance sector. You will gather requirements, analyze, design, implement, install, and train users, while producing detailed design specifications for complex development tasks.

You will develop and maintain web apps, REST APIs, and database scripts, perform problem analysis, and provide technical guidance plus ad-hoc reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• At least 3 years in Software development.
• Knowledge of UML and design documentation standards.
• Understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with enterprise application architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with RDBMS: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server.
• Experience with authentication and security: JWT, RBAC, API integrations, and Nginx with HTTPS/TLS.
• Experience with data export, reporting, and file-based integrations.
• Experience with POSIX-compliant OS: AIX, Ubuntu, and RHEL.

Application Development role in the Insurance industry based in Kuala Lumpur. You will participate in user requirement and needs gathering for new software and perform analysis, design, implementation, installation, and training. You will produce technical design specifications and be responsible for key and complex development tasks.

Key responsibilities

Produce technical design specification and be responsible for key and complex development tasks

Develop and maintain web applications, REST APIs, database scripts/migrations, and file-based integrations

Carry out fact finding and program analysis of problems and apply established procedures to bring resolution

Provide technical advice and support to users, including creating ad-hoc reports, data analysis and correction, training and problem solving

Support BAU applications on daily basis: monitor jobs, logs, web services, reverse proxy/TLS, and database connectivity; ensure issue logs are closed on time

Perform issue tracking and resolution on related projects and tasks under supervision

Comply with company policies, procedures, and Software Development Life Cycle

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

At least 3 years in Software development

Knowledge of software design and documentation standards, including Unified Modeling Language (UML)

Understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall

Understanding of enterprise application architecture and design patterns

Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies

Experience with authentication and security frameworks, including JWT, role-based access control (RBAC), API integrations, and web server technologies such as Nginx with HTTPS/TLS

Experience with data export, reporting, and file-based system integrations

Experience working with POSIX-compliant operating systems such as AIX, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
