Job summary

GRIT is seeking a Senior Manager, Energy Development to lead grid connection delivery for large-scale data centre campuses across APAC. You will own the end-to-end process from feasibility to energisation, coordinating with grid operators, regulators and internal teams to ensure timely and compliant power infrastructure.

You will manage HV/MV projects, stakeholder engagement, and commercial aspects, with travel up to 50% during peak periods.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in grid connections or power infrastructure.
• Experience managing utility interfaces from application through energisation.
• Knowledge of grid frameworks and regulatory environments in APAC (Malaysia, Japan, Australia).

Job description

Our client is a global data centre developer and operator delivering hyperscale infrastructure across international markets. They are hiring a Senior Manager, Energy Development to lead grid connection delivery for large-scale data centre campuses across APAC.

The Role:

You will own the grid connection process from early feasibility and utility engagement through to energisation. Working with grid operators, regulators and internal teams, you will ensure power infrastructure is delivered in line with campus development milestones.

Responsibilities:

• Lead HV/MV grid connection projects, including capacity assessments, connection applications, technical studies and construction coordination.
• Manage relationships with utilities, transmission and distribution network operators, regulators and relevant authorities.
• Work with legal and commercial teams to negotiate and execute connection agreements.
• Coordinate offsite grid infrastructure and onsite substation interfaces, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and grid codes.
• Bring development, engineering, construction, legal, commercial and finance teams together to manage dependencies and delivery.
• Own grid connection schedules, budgets and risk management, providing clear reporting to senior leadership.
• Support early-stage site assessments, advising on power availability, connection timelines and commercial implications.
• Develop playbooks and processes to support consistent delivery across the regional portfolio.

Your Background:

• 5+ years’ experience in grid connections, power infrastructure or complex infrastructure project delivery.
• Experience managing utility interfaces from application through to energisation.
• Working knowledge of grid connection frameworks and regulatory environments in Malaysia, Japan and Australia.
• Strong programme management, stakeholder engagement and commercial judgement.
• Data centre, mission-critical infrastructure or 100MW+ grid connection experience would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel across APAC, reaching up to 50% during peak project periods.
