Job summary

Monks in Kuala Lumpur is recruiting a mid to senior Network Engineer to lead regional network transformation across APAC within a global team. The role focuses on upgrades, uptime, and scalable architecture while managing projects with minimal supervision.

You will administer Fortinet and wireless platforms, coordinate changes, and document effectively. The candidate should have strong networking fundamentals, SLAs, and English fluency to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a mid to senior Network Engineer, able to drive regional initiatives independently.
• Proactive approach to owning network stability, improvements, and project delivery.
• Track record of resolving network incidents within demanding SLAs.
• Certifications: Fortinet NSE 4–7 (or equivalent).
• Hands-on Fortinet products: FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager.
• Wireless tech: Aruba Wireless, FortiAP, UniFi, Extreme Networks.
• Juniper routers and switches experience.
• Fiber optic networks knowledge.
• DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, OSPF and BGP.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Experience with monitoring tools: Zabbix, LibreNMS.
• Fluent English spoken and written.
• Interpersonal, collaboration and time management skills.
• Fast learner, knowledge sharing, and adaptability.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and composure under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Lead network transformation initiatives across APAC, delivering upgrades and scalable network architecture.
• Manage tasks and projects independently, from planning through deployment.
• Administer Internet connectivity, LANs, dynamic routing, VPNs, firewalls, and Wi-Fi across Monks’ global sites.
• Resolve network incidents within established SLAs, communicating clearly throughout.
• Maintain and administer network assets from our Kuala Lumpur office.
• Plan and deploy network changes, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
• Automate routine operational and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor, analyze, and report on network service performance.
