Job summary

TE Connectivity Manufacturing Malaysia in Penang is seeking a Process Development Automation Engineer for AOI. You design and configure AOI hardware, develop image processing algorithms, and program vision systems from Keyence and Cognex.

You will integrate AOI with PLCs and MES, troubleshoot and maintain systems, and train operators and engineers. A Bachelor’s in engineering and 3 years AOI experience are required, with strong Python/C#/SQL and AI/ML knowledge for vision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of AOI systems, hardware, software and AI/ML integration.
• 3 years hands-on AOI design, implementation and optimization.
• Expertise in Keyence and Cognex vision systems, including programming and troubleshooting.
• Strong background in industrial automation and PLC integration.
• Experience managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and configure AOI hardware systems including cameras, sensors, lighting, and optics.
• Develop and optimize image processing algorithms for defect detection, OCR/OCV, and measurements.
• Program and maintain Keyence and Cognex vision systems, including AI-based tools.
• Integrate AOI systems with PLCs and MES for real-time data exchange.
• Troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and provide remote support for AOI systems.
• Lead training programs for operators, technicians, and engineers on AOI systems.
