Job summary

Mesiniaga Berhad is seeking an IBM AIX and Power Systems Administrator to manage a 24×7 production environment, ensuring health, performance, and security across infrastructure operations. The role requires hands-on experience with AIX, PowerVM, and related technologies.

The ideal candidate will monitor system health, perform patching and upgrades, and handle incidents, capacity planning, and change management with strong documentation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor''s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain IBM AIX and Power Systems in a 24×7 production environment.
• Monitor system health, CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, and overall system performance.
• Perform AIX troubleshooting, error diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution.
• Perform AIX patching, TL/SP, Fix Pack upgrades, and OS upgrades.
• Perform IBM Power hardware maintenance, firmware upgrades, and hardware/part replacement when required.
• Monitor and resolve filesystem, storage, OS, and hardware-related issues.
• Perform vulnerability assessment remediation and security hardening activities.
• Execute approved Change Requests and follow change management procedures.
• Conduct capacity planning and provide recommendations for future CPU, memory, and storage requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, incident reports, and Field Service Reports when required

Key responsibilities

Administer and maintain IBM AIX and Power Systems in a 24×7 production environment

Monitor system health, CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, and overall system performance

Perform AIX troubleshooting, error diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and problem resolution

Perform AIX patching, Technology Level (TL), Service Pack (SP), Fix Pack, and OS upgrades

Perform IBM Power hardware maintenance, firmware upgrades, and hardware/part replacement when required

Monitor and resolve filesystem, storage, OS, and hardware-related issues

Perform vulnerability assessment remediation and security hardening activities

Execute approved Change Requests and follow change management procedures

Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

3–5 years of hands‑on experience in AIX and IBM Power Systems administration

Good knowledge of IBM AIX, Power Systems, LPAR, PowerVM, LVM, filesystems, and storage

Hands‑on experience in AIX patching, TL/SP/Fix Pack upgrades, and system maintenance

Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills for AIX OS and IBM hardware

Knowledge of system performance monitoring and capacity planning

Knowledge of vulnerability remediation and security patching

Experience with incident, problem, and change management

Good communication, documentation, and reporting skills

Able to work in an on‑call environment when required
