Job summary

Overview.ai in Penang, Malaysia is seeking an Application Engineer to become the inaugural local team member. You will maintain and optimize 100+ vision inspection cameras across customer sites in Indonesia and support new production line deployments.

The role requires strong automation expertise, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work independently while coordinating with contractors and HQ. English proficiency is essential, with Mandarin and Malaysian language skills as pluses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in automation with proficiency across multiple PLC systems.
• Practical experience troubleshooting electrical circuits using diagnostic tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical concepts including NPN/PNP sensor technology and signal conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize 100+ Overview.ai vision inspection cameras across customer sites.
• Provide rapid troubleshooting to minimize production downtime.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot systems on new production lines; work with PLCs and protocols.
• Deliver on-site technical support and training to customers; document recurring issues to improve product features.
