Job summary

Scicom (MSC) Berhad seeks an Advisory BMC Engineer to lead architecture, design, and delivery of BMC firmware and platform management for next-generation hyperscale servers. You will work directly with customers, platform architects, and engineering leaders to set direction and resolve complex challenges.

The role requires 8+ years in server platform development with deep BMC firmware expertise, and strong knowledge of Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, PLDM, and OpenBMC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of server platform development with extensive BMC firmware expertise.
• Deep experience in Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, PLDM, OpenBMC, or related server management technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional technical initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of BMC firmware and platform management solutions across platforms.
• Define technical roadmaps and drive end-to-end delivery of BMC features from concept to release.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers on BMC architecture and issues.
• Drive root-cause analysis for firmware, hardware, and system-level issues.
• Guide engineering teams in scalable, maintainable server management solutions.
• Review architecture proposals, code, and specs for technical excellence.
• Influence platform management strategy and adoption of standards like Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, OpenBMC.
• Collaborate with hardware/BIOS/validation teams to align execution with business goals.
• Mentor engineers with leadership, guidance, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvements in platform reliability, firmware quality, and customer satisfaction.

The Position:

The Advisory BMC Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for driving the architecture, design, and delivery of BMC firmware and platform management solutions for next-generation hyperscale server platforms. This role partners directly with customers, platform architects, and engineering leaders to define technical direction, resolve complex system challenges, and ensure successful deployment of scalable server management technologies.

The Responsibilities of the Role:

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of advanced BMC firmware and platform management solutions across Intel, AMD, and storage server platforms.
• Define technical roadmaps and drive end-to-end delivery of strategic BMC features from concept through production release.
• Serve as the primary technical interface for customers on BMC architecture, platform management capabilities, and escalated technical issues.
• Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex firmware, hardware, interoperability, and system-level issues.
• Guide engineering teams in designing scalable, maintainable, and industry-compliant server management solutions.
• Review architecture proposals, code implementations, and technical specifications to ensure technical excellence.
• Influence platform management strategy, including adoption of emerging technologies and industry standards such as Redfish, MCTP, PLDM, SPDM, and OpenBMC.
• Collaborate with hardware architects, BIOS teams, validation teams, and program leadership to align technical execution with business objectives.
• Mentor and develop engineers by providing technical leadership, design guidance, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to platform reliability, firmware quality, engineering productivity, and customer satisfaction.

The Requirement for the Role:

• Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in server platform development with extensive BMC firmware expertise.
  • Strong understanding of hyperscale server architectures, platform management frameworks, and server lifecycle management.
  • Deep experience in embedded software development using C/C++ and Linux-based systems.
  • Proven expertise in Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, PLDM, OpenBMC, or related server management technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Extensive experience working directly with hyperscale customers and handling critical escalations.
  • Strong system architecture, problem-solving, and technical leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive OpenBMC architecture and customization experience.
  • Experience leading platform management development for hyperscale cloud providers.
  • Knowledge of security technologies such as SPDM, secure boot, attestation, and platform security frameworks.
  • Experience influencing industry standards and driving technology adoption across multiple product generations.
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or serving as technical lead for firmware teams.
