Job summary

Pacific & Orient Insurance Co Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced actuary to lead reserving, FCR preparation, and IFRS 17 roll-forward analytics. You will oversee experience studies, risk management, and reinsurance support while developing junior team members and coordinating cross-functional projects.

The role emphasizes strong leadership, advanced modelling, and communication skills to drive compliant, timely reporting and deliver strategic actuarial insights.

Qualifications

• Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of actuarial experience in general insurance, consulting or reinsurance, preferably with IFRS 17.
• Experience with ResQ and programming or analytics tools such as R, Python, VBA, SAS, or SQL.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to manage and develop team members.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, modelling, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Reserving: Manage annual and quarterly reserving processes and timely submission.

Job description

• Reserving: Manage annual and quarterly reserving processes to ensure timely submission to Bank Negara Malaysia.
• Financial Condition Report: Communicate with various stakeholders to gather and analyse relevant information to support the preparation of the FCR.
• MFRS17: Maintain the IFRS 17 solution for roll-forward analysis and enhance actuarial workflows to support timely MFRS 17 reporting.
• Experience study: Conduct experience analyses and prepare monitoring reports.
• Risk Management: Provide technical support for ICAAP reviews and stress testing exercises.
• Reinsurance: Provide actuarial support during annual reinsurance treaty renewals.
• Lead, motivate, and develop junior team members by providing guidance, coaching, and promoting continuous learning and career development.
• Undertake other ad-hoc projects and provide actuarial support as required.

Requirements:

• Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant actuarial experience in a general insurance, consulting or reinsurance, preferably with experience in IFRS 17.
