FWD Malaysia Holdings Sdn Bhd in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a senior actuarial analyst to support Solvency II provisions, reporting, and governance across regional entities. You will review assumptions, contribute to management reporting, and drive process improvements while collaborating with Asia teams.
The role requires 4+ years of actuarial experience and strong technical skills in Excel, Prophet/AXIS, SQL, and VBA.
Coordination & Validation: Coordinate and review Solvency II technical provisions—including Best Estimate Liabilities (BEL) and Risk Margin (RM)—submitted by local Asian entities to ensure mathematical accuracy and alignment with group principles.
In-Depth Analysis: Perform variance analysis, movement analysis, and sensitivity testing on technical provisions to explain key period-over-period financial drivers and trends.
Reporting Support: Assist in preparing regular regional Solvency II reporting packages, regulatory disclosures, and quantitative reporting templates (QRTs).
Reporting Coordination: Lead the periodic new business reporting workflow across Asia life entities.
Metric Review: Consolidate, analyze, and challenge local entity submissions for key metrics, including Annualized Premium Equivalent (APE), New Business Value (NBV), New Business Margin (NBM), and weighted guaranteed rates.
Management Reporting: Produce clean, structured management reports and summaries highlighting sales performance, product mix shifts, and profitability drivers for regional leadership.
Assumptions & Methodology: Support the supervisor in reviewing local entity proposals for operating and economic assumption updates (e.g., mortality, lapse, expense, discount rates).
Model Governance: Evaluate model change requests and methodology updates submitted by local business units to ensure compliance with actuarial standards and regional risk frameworks.
Impact Assessment: Quantify and summarize the financial impacts of model adjustments and methodology updates across entities.
Ad-Hoc Analysis: Support regional projects related to capital management, strategic planning, and experience studies as required.
Process Enhancement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in reporting efficiency and spreadsheet governance.
University degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
Good progress toward professional actuarial qualification (SOA, IFoA, CAS, or equivalent) is preferred.
4+ years of relevant actuarial experience in life insurance valuation, financial reporting, or risk management.
Solid actuarial knowledge, with demonstrated experience in actuarial reserving, balance sheet evaluation, and valuation principles.
Practical understanding of Solvency II principles or similar risk-based economic capital frameworks is strongly preferred.
Language Skills: Good command of written and spoken English; able to write concise technical notes and communicate effectively across regional teams.
Software & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with actuarial projection systems (e.g., Prophet, AXIS) or data tools (SQL, VBA) is an advantage.
