Job summary

MyCA Accountants & Advisors in Kota Kinabalu is seeking an Accounts Manager to lead the accounting team, oversee client portfolios, and deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting, strong knowledge of Malaysian standards, and proficiency with accounting software. You will mentor staff, ensure timely reporting, and drive efficiency and digital adoption across client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (MIA/ACCA/CPA) is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience, with supervisory/managerial experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards and statutory compliance.
• Proficient in accounting software, Excel, and digital accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely client accounts.
• Oversee full-set accounting, financial statements, management accounts, and closing processes.
• Review financial reports for compliance with Malaysian standards and statutory requirements.
• Monitor client portfolios, deadlines, and service quality.
• Advise clients on accounting matters and internal controls improvements.
• Implement tax, SST, and e-Invoice requirements with relevant departments.
• Build client relationships and provide professional support to business owners.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members to improve productivity and competencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely completion of client accounts.

Oversee full-set accounting, financial statements, management accounts, and month-end/year-end closing.

Review financial reports and ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Monitor client portfolios, deadlines, deliverables, and service quality.

Advise clients on accounting matters, financial performance, and improvements to internal controls.

Ensure proper implementation of applicable tax, SST, and e-Invoice requirements in coordination with relevant departments.

Build strong client relationships and provide professional support to business owners.

Train, mentor, and develop team members to improve productivity and technical competency.

Identify opportunities to improve workflows, digital accounting processes, and operational efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Professional accounting qualification or membership (e.g. MIA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.

At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with supervisory or managerial experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards and statutory compliance.

Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and digital accounting systems.

Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and client-management skills.

Able to manage multiple client assignments and meet deadlines independently.
