Job Description
The Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s accounting, financial, payroll and related administrative operations. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective cash flow management, statutory compliance, strong internal controls and efficient finance operations. The role will work closely with Management, internal departments, auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries and relevant authorities on financial and operational matters.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Book and Fixed Assets.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, monthly closing and account reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and financial analysis.
Monitor receivables, payables and outstanding balances.
Provide financial information and analysis to support Management’s decision-making.
Payroll, Tax & Statutory Compliance.
Oversee payroll processing, including salaries, overtime, claims, allowances and deductions.
Ensure timely EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB/MTD and other statutory payments.
Manage SST matters and liaise with the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
Coordinate with tax agents on tax computations, submissions and other tax matters.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
Monitor daily cash flow, collections, payments and financial commitments.
Prepare cash flow forecasts and payment schedules for Management.
Oversee banking matters, including bank accounts, fund transfers, Fixed Deposits and banking documentation.
Assist Management with budgeting, financial planning, cost control and fund management.
Ensure payments are properly authorised and processed within approved timelines.
Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
Coordinate annual audit and liaise with auditors, tax agents, company secretary, bankers and relevant authorities.
Ensure timely preparation of audit schedules and supporting documents.
Review bank, inter-company and other account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain proper financial records, documentation and internal controls.
Identify financial risks or control weaknesses and report significant matters to Management.
Finance Management & Leadership
Take overall responsibility for the effective management of the Finance function.
Lead, supervise and guide Finance and Accounts personnel to ensure work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
Allocate duties, set priorities and monitor team performance and workload.
Ensure proper segregation of duties and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Coach and support team members in accounting, payroll and finance-related matters.
Review and improve finance processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and cost management.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to Management for operational and strategic decision-making.
Lead or participate in finance-related projects and other responsibilities assigned by Management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, MIA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, preferably with experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Strong knowledge of full-set accounting, payroll, SST, taxation, financial reporting and statutory requirements in Malaysia.
Experience in liaising with auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries and government authorities.
Good understanding of accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with accuracy under tight deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while also managing and supporting a finance team.
High level of integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
Good self-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
