Job summary

Kps Hcm in Malaysia seeks an experienced Head of Accounting & Finance to oversee the general ledger, consolidation, and group reporting, ensuring timely submissions under the Bursa Malaysia timetable.

You will supervise project costing, WIP, revenue recognition under MFRS 15, tax compliance (SST/e-Invoicing), audits, and ERP module integrity while partnering with project teams to boost profitability and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and supervise the integrity of the general ledger and accounting system.
  • Manage consolidation and group reporting requirements.
  • Ensure divisional financial figures are submission-ready according to the Group reporting timetable.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia quarterly announcement deadlines.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards, including MFRS.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts in alignment with construction project structures.
  • Support Group Finance in preparing divisional inputs for Bursa Malaysia quarterly announcements and annual reports.
  • Ensure subsidiary accounting records comply with the Companies Act 2016 and Group Audit Committee requirements.
  • Support statutory and Group audit sign-off within the consolidated audit timetable.
  • Identify and flag related-party transactions and material contracts/events requiring Bursa disclosure.
  • Monitor and support ESG and climate-related disclosure requirements affecting divisional cost and financing data.
  • Set up and monitor project/job costing systems to track project revenues and expenses.
  • Apply MFRS 15 principles for construction revenue recognition.
  • Monitor percentage-of-completion, contract assets, and contract liabilities.
  • Coordinate with project teams to monitor budget versus actual costs.
  • Identify and analyse project cost variances.
  • Ensure proper allocation of overheads, labour, equipment, and materials.
  • Manage WIP valuation, retention accounting, and progress billing reconciliation.
  • Reconcile project billing against BOQ and contractual milestones.
  • Manage end-to-end banking operations, including facility applications, renewals, and covenant compliance.
  • Manage trade and project finance instruments, including: Letters of Credit (LC), Bank Guarantees, Bid Bonds, Forex Hedging,Trade and Invoice Financing
  • Supervise daily cash positions and payment processing.
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations, signatory controls, and online banking activities.
  • Develop funding strategy recommendations for working capital and project-specific financing.
  • Monitor and report facility headroom and covenant compliance.
  • Manage interest rate and foreign exchange risk exposure.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly treasury reports.
  • Monitor bank balances, cash flow forecasts, and facility utilisation.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable (AP) processes, including vendor management, invoice validation, and retention tracking.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, including progress billing, milestone invoicing, and customer collections.
  • Manage accounting for capital expenditure, asset capitalisation, and depreciation.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory at project sites and warehouses.
  • Ensure proper accounting records for project materials, tools, and other inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, including SST and e-Invoicing.
  • Lead internal and external audits.
  • Ensure timely submission of audit requirements according to the Group audit timetable.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
  • Attend relevant training and seminars on new regulations.
  • Train and lead the accounting team in implementing new regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls over financial transactions and reporting.
  • Review and improve accounting processes and documentation.
  • Strengthen approval workflows and financial controls.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual divisional budget.
  • Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide financial inputs for Group planning cycles.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Contracts, and Project Solutions teams to improve project profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor project financial performance beyond standard budget variance analysis.
  • Oversee accounting modules within the ERP system, including SQL and other relevant systems.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure accurate data entry and system integrity.
  • Ensure timely system updates and maintenance.
  • Conduct training for the accounting team on system usage and compliance.
  • Lead, structure, and develop the Accounting & Finance Department (AFD) team.
  • Allocate responsibilities across project accounting, AP/AR, treasury, and banking operations.
  • Establish KPIs and conduct performance reviews.
  • Manage training and upskilling programmes.
  • Develop succession plans and ensure adequate backup for critical functions.
  • Promote accuracy, timeliness, accountability, and teamwork.
