Job summary

Zebra in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking an Accountant, Professional I to join our finance team. The role focuses on maintaining financial integrity and performing month-end close for APAC entities. You will work with cross-functional teams across geographies and support statutory filings and compliance.

The position offers hybrid work, growth opportunities, and exposure to US GAAP/IFRS in a multinational setting. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance and professional qualifications add value.
• 1-3 years of experience, preferably in an accounting firm or MNC.
• Knowledge of transfer pricing and treasury is advantageous.
• Experience with US GAAP, SOX and IFRS is beneficial.
• Proficient in Oracle ERP and MS Office with BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily general accounting activities and month-end closing.
• Prepare financial statements: income statements, balance sheets, P&L.
• Maintain general ledger records and journal entries for monthly close.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations.
• Coordinate statutory filings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Works on assigned account reconciliations, and establishes documents, and works with department staff on applying accounting processes and procedures.**RESPONSIBILITIES*** Managing daily general accounting activities.* Performing month-end activities and prepares financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, profit-and-loss, and other accounting statements and participates in regional financial statement reviews.* Prepares and maintains records of general ledger accounts and all journal entries necessary for monthly close, monthly account reconciliations and investigates reconciling items.* Maintains compliance with accounting standards and regulations (e.g., U.S. GAAP, SOX, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, inclusive of local regulations).* Drives US and statutory accounting GAAP compliance, conversant in IFRS and US GAAP and the impacts to statutory accounting.* Collaborates with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders across geographies.* Responsible for all statutory filings (annual accounts, direct and indirect tax returns, statistics, etc.), and coordinating the approach with external service providers.* Collaborating with other departments – AR, AP, Payroll, FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Internal Audit, Facilities, etc.* Contributes to innovation ideas.* Participates in projects and company initiatives, process improvements and ad hoc assignments. **REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE*** Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance. Professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA/CPA) is an added advantage.* Minimum 1-3 years of experience, preferably in an accounting firm and/or MNC.* Knowledge of transfer pricing and treasury will be an added advantage.* Experienced user of Oracle ERP and conversant in Microsoft Office applications with strong capability in BI tools (such as PowerBI, Power Query, Power Pivot) is added advantage.* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
