Job summary

AI Rudder Pte Ltd is seeking an Accountant for its Malaysia operations to manage the full accounting cycle, ensure statutory compliance (SST, WHT), and provide timely financial insights to the leadership. The role requires strong Xero and Excel skills, with experience using Power BI and Power Query to automate reconciliations and build dashboards.

You will collaborate with local stakeholders, support audits, and help drive budgeting and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years in an accounting role.
• MIA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA is highly preferred.
• Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Month-End Closing: manage full set of accounts in Xero.
• Financial Reporting: prepare monthly management accounts and statutory statements.
• Cash Flow Management: oversee payables/receivables and bank reconciliations.
• Taxation: SST returns and corporate tax computations, with WHT compliance.
• LHDN E-Invoicing: lead implementation and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Audit & Secretarial: coordinate year-end statutory audit and assistant with company secretaries.
• Business Partnering: provide financial data and commentary to operational heads.
• Process Automation: use Excel advanced features and Power Query to automate schedules.
• Dashboarding: build Power BI dashboards to visualize financial performance.

About the Role

The Accountant will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial accounting and statutory compliance for AIRudder’s Malaysia operations. The core of this role is to ensure the integrity of the financial books, manage local tax obligations (including E-Invoicing), and provide management with clear financial insights. Proficiency in data tools is a significant advantage for automating reconciliations and enhancing reporting speed.

What You’ll Do

• Month-End Closing: Manage the full set of accounts, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and prepayments are recorded accurately in Xero.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare timely monthly management accounts and financial statements for local and regional leadership.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor local cash flow requirements, manage accounts payable/receivable, and oversee bank reconciliations.
• Taxation: Lead the preparation and timely filing of SST returns. Manage Corporate Tax computations and ensure strict compliance with Withholding Tax (WHT) for cross-border transactions.
• LHDN E-Invoicing: Act as the internal lead for the implementation and maintenance of the LHDN E-Invoicing framework, ensuring all sales and purchases meet regulatory standards.
• Audit & Secretarial: Manage the year-end statutory audit process, liaising with external auditors and company secretaries to ensure compliance with SSM requirements.
• Business Partnering: Provide financial data and commentary to operational heads to help them manage their budgets and vendor costs.
• Process Automation: Leverage Excel (Advanced) and Power Query to automate repetitive accounting schedules and bank reconciliations.
• Dashboarding: Utilize Power BI to visualize financial performance, making it easier for non-finance stakeholders to understand the numbers
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional Qualification: MIA member or professional pursuit of ACCA/CPA/CIMA is highly preferred.
• Experience: 3–5 years in an accounting role. Candidates from Big 4 Audit or mid-tier firms looking to move into a commercial role are highly encouraged to apply.
• Required: High proficiency in Xero (or similar ERPs) and Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
• Strong Plus: Experience using Power Query (M language) or Power BI to handle large datasets.
• Soft Skills: Meticulous, able to work independently, and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
• Language: Fluent in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.
