Descripción del empleo
Firm Overview

Deep Ocean Partners (“Deep Ocean”) is a New York–based asset management firm whose mission is to create long‑term value for investors by delivering uncorrelated, outsized risk‑adjusted returns in private credit. With a flexible mandate, rigorous investment process, and focus across the credit spectrum — including Direct Lending, Specialty Finance, Asset‑Backed Lending (ABL), Factoring, Special Opportunities, and Distressed — Deep Ocean seeks to capitalize on niche, high‑barrier segments of the private‑credit market while maintaining agility to deploy into the most attractive opportunities at any point in the credit cycle.

The firm combines institutional‑grade credit structuring with technology‑enabled, data‑driven underwriting, leveraging live borrower data to dynamically price, monitor, and optimize credit exposures. Its platform fuses the analytical depth of hedge‑fund investing with the risk discipline of traditional credit, enabling the firm to originate and manage bespoke, collateralized loans across North America, Latin America, and Europe.

To scale its presence in Latin America, Deep Ocean formed a strategic joint venture with Polymath Ventures, a leading venture builder headquartered in Mexico City. The joint venture, Deep Ocean Polymath Ventures (“DOPV”), is dedicated to deploying structured credit solutions to fintechs, specialty‑finance platforms, and SME lenders across Mexico and broader Latin America. DOPV combines Deep Ocean’s credit structuring and data infrastructure with Polymath’s deep regional operating footprint and venture‑building expertise, creating a uniquely integrated lending and innovation platform.

The Mexico City office serves as a key operational hub for DOPV and for Deep Ocean’s broader cross‑border private‑credit deployments, ensuring seamless collaboration between Mexico‑based borrowers and the firm’s portfolio and asset‑management teams in New York. The Vice President – Operations & Underwriting will play a central role in supporting both Mexico‑based transactions under DOPV and US‑originated private‑credit and factoring facilities, acting as a shared resource across the two platforms.

Description

Deep Ocean Partners is seeking a Vice President – Operations & Underwriting to join its Mexico City office. This is a multi‑disciplinary, high‑impact role that combines operational leadership within Deep Ocean’s factoring and receivables‑finance platform with analytical support for the firm’s private‑credit and ABL execution efforts across both the United States and Mexico.

The VP will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day mechanics of factoring and asset‑backed lending operations, including borrower onboarding, collateral verification, cash‑flow management, and reporting accuracy. In parallel, the role will contribute to deal underwriting, due diligence, and closing execution, supporting Deep Ocean’s and DOPV’s portfolio of transactions across fintech, e‑commerce, manufacturing, and specialty‑finance verticals.

The successful candidate will be an operationally strong, analytically minded professional capable of bridging disciplines — equally comfortable managing daily funding and collections processes as they are reviewing borrowing‑base models or underwriting a new facility. They will serve as a critical connective node between Deep Ocean’s Mexico‑based borrowers, servicing partners, and its Portfolio & Asset Management teams in New York and Mexico City.

This position offers a rare opportunity to contribute to the scaling of a cross‑border institutional credit platform and to work directly with senior leadership on both sides of the joint venture.

This is a full‑time, in‑office position based in Mexico City.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Management (Factoring & ABL)
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of factoring and receivables‑finance transactions, including borrower funding, reserve management, collections, and reconciliations.
  • Validate invoice and payor eligibility, perform receivable verification, and manage notification processes to ensure compliance with facility documentation.
  • Maintain real‑time visibility into collateral pools, concentrations, dilutions, and aging across multiple borrowers.
  • Coordinate with local accountants, servicers, and legal counsel to ensure adherence to transaction mechanics and reserve policies.
  • Manage and enhance operational dashboards, borrower data feeds, and reporting protocols.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen accuracy, transparency, and scalability of factoring and ABL operations.
Underwriting & Due Diligence
  • Support underwriting of new private‑credit transactions, including financial modeling, collateral evaluation, and scenario analyses.
  • Conduct borrower diligence focusing on customer concentrations, working‑capital efficiency, and cash‑flow predictability.
  • Assist in drafting investment memoranda, credit committee materials, and structuring recommendations.
  • Coordinate with external counsel, auditors, and field examiners during diligence and documentation phases.
  • Participate in the design of borrowing‑base mechanics, advance‑rate schedules, and covenant frameworks.
Execution & Portfolio Support
  • Manage closing workflows in coordination with legal, tax, and accounting teams across both the US and Mexico.
  • Ensure timely setup of borrower reporting pipelines, reserve accounts, and data integrations.
  • Monitor post‑closing performance, including borrower compliance, covenant tracking, and collateral movements.
  • Prepare monthly asset‑performance reports and support the Portfolio & Asset Management teams with variance analyses and risk dashboards.
  • Assist in ongoing renewals, upsizings, or restructuring events as part of portfolio optimization efforts.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the operational bridge between DOPV (Mexico City) and Deep Ocean (New York), facilitating communication across underwriting, operations, and asset‑management teams.
  • Collaborate with the firm’s data and analytics teams to strengthen real‑time monitoring tools and credit‑risk models.
  • Serve as a local escalation point for servicing and borrower‑relations issues, ensuring timely and proactive resolution.
  • Support strategic projects to standardize processes and integrate best practices across geographies and asset classes.
Requirements
  • 7–10 years of experience in factoring, trade finance, ABL, or private‑credit underwriting and operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of receivables‑based lending, including notification, verification, dilution management, and borrowing‑base mechanics.
  • Proven ability to manage multi‑party operational workflows, reconcile complex funding structures, and maintain disciplined reporting frameworks.
  • Solid analytical and credit‑underwriting background, ideally with exposure to fintech, SME lending, or structured credit.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with remote teams across time zones.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required; experience with SQL, ERP/CRM systems, or BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering; MBA, CFA, or CPA preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, high attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, data‑driven environment.
