A leading manufacturing company in Mexicali is seeking a Tool Room Leader to oversee daily operations in the machine shop. This role involves supervising machinists, ensuring production goals, and maintaining high safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has over 5 years of experience in a machine shop, with a strong background in CNC programming and excellent leadership skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Formación

  • 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and tooling.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and precision measurement tools.

The Tool Room Leader is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the machine shop, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role involves supervising machinists and technicians, coordinating workflow, managing equipment maintenance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of machinists, CNC operators, and technicians.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize machining jobs to meet production deadlines.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Monitor machine performance and coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor team members to enhance skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to optimize processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance, and quality metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and other relevant quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical, industrial Engineer degree or certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC programming, and tooling.
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints, GD&T, and precision measurement tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards.
