Vertiv Co is seeking a Thermal Design Engineer to select refrigeration and HVAC components, develop 3D models, and create BOMs for Chilled Water Systems new product introductions. The role requires initiative, problem-solving, and participation in design reviews with customers and cross-functional teams.

The engineer will use Creo or Solid Edge to produce 3D models and 2D drawings, contribute to multiple projects, and collaborate with manufacturers and vendors.

Formación

• 7+ years of experience selecting refrigeration and HVAC components.
• Proficiency with CAD systems Creo or Solid Edge.
• Desirable experience with pipe modeling.

• Create reliable 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components using Creo and Solid Edge; proficient in pipe modeling.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing during testing and production.

• Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to select components.
• May oversee and advise on others' designs.

POSITION SUMMARY

• TheThermal Design Engineer selects refrigeration and HVAC components. Defines and creates 3D models, bill of materials (BOMS) for projects related to Chilled Water Systems new product introduction. Will be expected to perform tasks with low to no supervision. TheThermal Design Engineer will have initiative to quickly and effectively solve problems that impact Chilled Water Systems products, and participates in design reviews with customers, engineering team members and other internal work teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Selection of refrigeration and HVAC components (for example, compressors, EEV, heat exchangers and others).
• Create reliable designs and 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components using Creo and Solid Edge, proven expertise on piping design using CAD Tools (Creo, Solid Edge). Also, the Design Engineer is expected to be proficient on sheet metal.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations (assembly, engineering, materials, quality) during testing and production.
• Contribute to multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situation arises.
• Work directly with manufacturers and vendors to fulfill selection of components.
• May oversee and advise on the design of others as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Expertise (7+ years) on selection of refrigeration and HVAC and refrigeration components.
  • Preferably in Chillers or similar products.
• Proficiency in working with CREO, Solid Edge or equivalent CAD system.
  • Desired expertise with pipe modeling.
• Self-starter. Ability to solve problems, take responsibility and deliver results with a spirit of innovation and strong commitment to excellence.
• Mind set for problem solving is using intelligence and innovation.
• Degree level understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
• Fluency in English required (read, write, and speak).
• Proficiency in use of MS Office Software – such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to read, interpret and produce technical drawings (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrating ethics and integrity.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

• When required to support factory operations, it will be needed to wear safety equipment (boots, gloves, sleeves, helmet, and safety glasses).
• No other physical or environmental demands.
