Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field such as mechanical or electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in a laboratory, testing, reliability, or engineering environment.
  • Experience independently conducting product testing and operating lab equipment.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and evaluate product performance.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and documenting test results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product testing schedules and priorities to support customer commitments and milestones.
  • Execute electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing on production, prototype, and validation samples.
  • Collaborate with design and project teams to evaluate product performance.
  • Provide feedback on failure modes, product behavior, and design improvements.
  • Mentor test engineers and technicians during testing and troubleshooting.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain lab test equipment and environmental chambers.
  • Contribute to new testing systems and lab capabilities development.
  • Analyze results and draw conclusions on reliability and performance.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with objectives, procedures, equipment, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Follow Quality Management System requirements and lab best practices.

Job description

We are expanding our in-house Reliability Lab team and are seeking a Test Engineer II to support the validation, reliability, and performance evaluation of Molex products. In this role, you will lead testing activities, collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, and provide technical insights that contribute to product development, quality, and customer satisfaction. This position offers an opportunity to apply your laboratory testing expertise while helping develop testing capabilities and mentoring team members.

Our Team

You will be part of the Reliability Lab organization, working closely with Product Design Engineering, Project Test Engineering, and laboratory technicians to evaluate electrical connectors and modules. Our team is responsible for generating high-quality test data, investigating product performance, and supporting innovation through disciplined engineering and reliability practices.

What You Will Do
  • Manage product testing schedules and priorities to support customer commitments and project milestones.
  • Execute electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing on production, prototype, and validation samples.
  • Collaborate with product design and project engineering teams to evaluate electrical, mechanical, and thermal product performance.
  • Provide technical feedback regarding failure modes, product behavior, and potential design improvements.
  • Mentor and support test engineers and laboratory technicians during test execution and troubleshooting activities.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain standard and custom laboratory test equipment, including electrical measurement devices and environmental chambers.
  • Participate in the design, development, debugging, and implementation of new testing systems and laboratory capabilities.
  • Analyze test results and develop conclusions regarding product reliability and performance.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting objectives, procedures, equipment, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Support root cause investigations and structured problem-solving activities through failure analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Follow approved Quality Management System requirements, procedures, and laboratory best practices.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Two or more years of experience in a laboratory, testing, reliability, or engineering environment.
  • Experience independently conducting product testing and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and evaluate product performance.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and documenting test results.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and connectivity.
  • Experience executing USCAR and OEM validation specifications.
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience using force-testing equipment, including compression and tensile testing systems.
  • Experience operating environmental conditioning chambers and laboratory measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with microscopes, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement devices.
  • Experience using test management software such as Polarion and Jira.
  • Experience working with databases and statistical analysis tools.
  • Experience performing failure analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis capabilities, including Pivot Tables.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
