Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Telephone System Installer / Technician (TSIT) to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.

The TSIT will be available for on-call support as needed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

PURPOSE / SCOPE

The TSIT is responsible for repair, replacing, installing, operating, and maintaining, the telecommunications infrastructure supporting the systems and equipment within the PWS. TSIT will be required to operate, maintain (repair/ replace) and upgrade the telephone switch hardware and software components and its peripherals in compliance with the manufacturers’ specifications to maintain the warranties and comply with the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) Certification System Under Test (SUT) specifications. TSIT will perform other duties as assigned by Program leadership.

The TSIT will be available for on-call support as needed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be BICSI Registered Technician Level certified or higher – in lieu of BICSI certification, the installers assigned to the installation / maintenance of this system or any of its components shall have a minimum of three years’ experience in “standards-based” installation of the specified copper and fiber optic cable and components.
  • Must have telecommunications industry or factory approved certification from each equipment manufacturer indicating qualification to install and test the provided products.
  • Must have experience in providing successful telecommunications systems within the past three years.
  • Must have three years’ experience in splicing and terminating specified cables.
  • Must be familiar with current global, US, Program and PWS requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license throughout employment in this role
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring
  • Ability to successfully pass the medical contract requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas as required by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
  • Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • May work in a typical office environment
  • This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in offices, industrial warehouses, ports, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
