Lincoln Motor Company seeks a System Assurance Engineer to ensure electrical and electro-mechanical systems meet launch perfection across Ford and Lincoln programs. You will review designs, develop test plans, and conduct negative testing, collaborating with design, release, quality, and triage teams.
You will drive DFMEAs, hardware-software integration, and boundary diagrams, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver reliable systems on schedule.
As a System Assurance Engineer within the FAST (Feature Assurance and Systems Troubleshooting) organization you will be responsible for ensuring that certain electrical and electrical mechanical systems, across all Ford and Lincoln programs, launch with perfection. You will review system designs, requirements, develop test plans, execute “negative” testing, work closely with the Design & Release systems engineering team, test execution teams, quality and triage teams.
Responsible for the launch of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, ensuring partner teams create robust architecture designs, boundary diagrams, design requirements, and DFMEAs, integrating hardware and software solutions together to a product on a program.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (including product/program management, validation and verification, software & hardware design, integration, quality, architecture, functional safety, and cyber security) to drive execution to program timelines. Collaborate closely with test engineers to verify and validate the system. This includes developing test plans, test procedures, and requirement verification plans.
Provide technical guidance and expertise in the specific domain. Apply a cross-functional vehicle and system-level mindset to understand and help troubleshoot end-to-end system operation.
Drive warranty and other launch feedback into execution and partnered design teams. Ensure the highest standards of design excellence, quality, and reliability through evaluative testing and reviewing verification system results. Identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges associated with electrical systems, proactively addressing issues to ensure successful delivery.
Continuously evaluate the systems’ performance and implement improvements to enhance functionality and efficiency. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system design and deployment processes, tools, and methodologies, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to leadership and stakeholders, providing regular updates and insights.
Review and analyzing complex cross-functional systems and innovative solutions. Understand customer needs and the essential functionality of the feature in the early stages of its development cycle. Monitor, organize, and manage tasks related to the feature throughout its project lifecycle.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
in Electromechanical (Mechatronics) features, electrical systems and or functional knowledge in electrical module design, vehicle networking, electrical distribution system, mechanical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
Excellent verbal and written communication is paramount for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex ideas, identifying conflict and resolving issues proactively.
The ability to conduct detailed technical analysis, troubleshoot complex system issues, and develop creative solutions is a core requirement.
The ability to plan, implement, and oversee projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Hands-on experience with various electrical testing methodologies, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques. This includes functional testing, validation testing, diagnostic testing, and performance analysis of electrical systems and components.
Knowledge of languages like Python or C++, and troubleshooting.
in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Applying engineering principles and methodologies to establish, implement, and uphold quality standards throughout the entire software development lifecycle. It includes risk management by fixing potential problems early and leveraging automated testing and continuous integration to detect and address risks in a timely manner using core quality tools like APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plan.
Knowledge of AI/ML fundamentals and tools to develop automation of repetitive tasks and assist with system design analysis.
The ability to design and integrate complex systems, develop system architecture, and ensure compatibility across platforms.
Proficiency in Matlab and MagicDraw with ability to create models and execute simulations.
Experience in the design, development, and release processes for electrical components and systems, including circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout considerations, and worst-case circuit analysis.
