Amentum is seeking a Sweeper Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The operator will run street and vacuum sweepers, perform inspections, and maintain logs to ensure clean roadways and airfields in a remote overseas environment.

The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license, and DoD-regulated certifications. Travel and deployment-ready medical and security requirements apply.

• 1–3 years of experience operating sweepers or heavy equipment.

• Valid driver’s license and licenses to operate street/airfield sweepers per DoD Annex 17.
• Ability to pass airfield driving test and obtain travel visas.
• Passport valid at least one year beyond hire date and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to meet medical, security and deployment requirements for a remote overseas location.
• English reading, speaking, and comprehension to perform contract requirements.

Responsabilidades

• Operate street sweepers, vacuum sweepers, and related equipment to maintain clean roadways, airfields, and facility surfaces.
• Perform pre-operation inspections, routine maintenance checks, and basic troubleshooting on sweeping equipment.
• Safely remove debris, sand, vegetation, and foreign objects from designated areas in accordance with Navy and Amentum standards.
• Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance actions, and completed work.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other departments to support scheduled and unscheduled cleaning operations.
• Follow all safety procedures, traffic rules, and operational guidelines while operating heavy equipment.
• Assist with general groundskeeping or facilities support tasks as assigned.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

The Sweeper Operator is responsible for operating street or industrial sweepers to clean public or work areas, following assigned routes, removing debris, and maintaining equipment in safe work order.

Required Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience operating sweepers, heavy equipment, or similar machinery.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid country driver’s license.
• Certified and licensed to operate street sweepers and airfield sweepers in accordance with DoD and Annex 17 regulations.
• Ability to pass and obtain an airfield driving test.
• Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Experience operating industrial sweepers, airfield sweepers, or municipal street-cleaning equipment.
• Strong understanding of equipment safety, maintenance, and operational best practices.
• Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
