The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner is responsible for all purchasing and planning activities relating to manufacturing, service, and inventory control for assigned product lines. The position is also responsible for optimizing inventory levels, and to be alert to material changes, shortages, unplanned scrap, and material availability. The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner I is responsible for maintaining Purchasing Files. This position is based out of the Vapotherm's Tijuana Manufacturing Plant and will operate under a hybrid working schedule after onsite training is complete.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Maintain and follow purchasing procedures to conform to ISO standards.
- Interfaces w/Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, Management, etc. on a daily basis communicating status and championing issue resolution.
- Coordinate the timely disposition of NCMR’s and support all QA activities to communicate non-conformance and corrective actions with suppliers.
- Provides management with clear, timely and accurate information with which to make decisions. Alerts management to deviations (or potential deviations) from established plans.
- Capable of ensuring timely and effective completion of Shortage Report, Late P.O.s, MRP Action Messages,
- Coordinates & expedites the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material.
- Ensure data accuracy and maintenance of parts in ERP system, including lead times, ABC classifications, safety stock level, and other planning features.
- Costing Knowledge (Total Cost of Ownership (TCO))/Negotiation – Possess knowledge of material costing, including many of the elements of TCO such as inspections, packaging, shipping. etc. Capable of not only buying components at Target Cost, but also able to drive favorable PPV.
- Business Acumen/Situational Awareness – Possess reasoning skills to understand situations and make business decisions that usually result in a positive outcome.
- Performs other duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with inventory control and physical inventories as necessary
- Assist with various manufacturing activities as necessary
- Support R & D with development projects
- Work closely with Quality Dept personnel in order to ensure regulatory compliance
- Preference given to demonstrable competencies in Lean Manufacturing (e.g. Toyota Production System). Including leading Kaizens/Continuous Improvement techniques, Standard Work, Single Piece Flow, Kan Ban, 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping, and Poka Yoke
Position Requirements - Education, Knowledge, Years of Experience, etc. :
- B.S. Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Ability to rapidly learn new systems and procedures
- Able to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
- Able to work under general supervision and guidelines.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- MS Excel, MS Word, and MRP experiences.
- Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
- Ability to work as a team or independently in a changing, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; must be driven and able to accept new challenges and continually strive for improvement in the support of effective therapy delivery to the patient and a delighted user experience.
- The employee is regularly required to work in an office and manufacturing assembly environment.
- The employee frequently is required to sit, walk, or stand.
