Uptalent.io client seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to own supplier qualification, audits, performance and corrective action across a multi-region supply base. You will spend ~80% of time at supplier sites, performing audits, reviewing controls and driving root-cause fixes on quality issues.

You will travel to Mexico, the U.S., and Asia regions, live near Monclova, and collaborate with engineering to ensure quality in welded enclosures, modular skids, and battery systems.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or a related technical field is required.
• 4+ years in supplier quality, quality engineering or manufacturing quality in an industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience conducting supplier audits and capability assessments.
• Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication, machining, welding processes or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T and welding symbols.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, FMEA and control plans.
• Experience with root cause analysis tools and statistical process control.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Excel-based data analysis.
• Professional English, spoken and written; audit, negotiate and report in English.
• Ability to travel approximately 80%, including internationally, with valid documentation.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Monclova area.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments and process evaluations against engineering and quality standards.
• Support supplier onboarding through First Article Inspections, PPAP submissions and technical validation reviews.
• Review supplier quality documentation including control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams and inspection reports.
• Drive Supplier Corrective Action Requests using structured root cause methodology (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
• Track supplier KPIs: defect rates, on-time delivery, cost of poor quality and corrective action cycle time.
• Work with Engineering to define inspection criteria, critical characteristics and acceptance standards.
• Support APQP activities for new product launches and engineering changes.
• Investigate nonconforming material and coordinate containment, corrective action and disposition.
• Maintain supplier performance dashboards and quality reporting.
• Partner with Procurement on sourcing decisions based on quality risk and supplier capability.
• Perform dimensional inspections, weld reviews and documentation audits.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce scrap, rework and supplier-driven production disruption.

Our client builds the physical infrastructure behind some of the fastest-moving industries in the world. They are a U.S.-based turnkey contract manufacturer serving energy storage, data centers, defense, HVAC and structural steel, with multiple large-scale plants across the United States and a joint venture operation in Monterrey.

What they make is heavy and precise at the same time. Welded enclosures. Modular process skids. Modified ISO containers. Battery energy storage systems that get fully integrated, wired and tested before they ship. Their capabilities run end to end: engineering, metal fabrication, coatings, mechanical and electrical integration, battery installation and end-of-line testing.

None of that works without a supply base that performs. That is where you come in.

We are hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to own supplier qualification, auditing, performance and corrective action across their supply base. You will spend most of your time at supplier facilities, not behind a desk. You will walk a fabrication floor and know within an hour whether the process is capable. You will look at a weld and know whether it meets the print. You will run a corrective action to real root cause instead of accepting a containment plan dressed up as a fix.

The supply base spans Mexico, the United States and Asia, so this role travels roughly 80% of the time and requires you to live near a major airport.

What you will do

Nice to have

• CQE, CQA or Six Sigma certification
• AWS CWI, NACE or SSPC coating inspection credentials, or NDT certification
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 welding standards, WPS and PQR review, and welder qualification
• Experience in modular fabrication, energy systems, BESS or defense manufacturing
• Experience auditing suppliers across multiple countries
• Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations

Who tends to do well here

Engineers who are comfortable being the only company representative in a supplier's plant, who can hold a firm position on a quality issue without turning it into a fight, and who would rather fix the process than file the report.
