Job summary

Ford of Mexico is seeking a Mechanical/Automotive Engineer for chassis development, focusing on steering components from concept to production. You will work with global teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure high-quality, safe vehicle dynamics.

The role emphasizes design verification, DFMEA, process improvements, and cross-functional teamwork in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automotive, or equivalent.
• 3–7 years in automotive chassis or steering development.
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN and DTCs; data acquisition tools.
• 3D CAD modelling with CATIA/Siemens NX; PLM tools like Teamcenter.
• Quality core tools: APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, Control Plans.
• Professional English with cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, packaging, and engineering release of steering components through launch.
• Define and execute DVP&R, durability testing, and functional assessments on bench, HIL, and prototype levels.
• Collaborate with software, vehicle dynamics, CAD, and manufacturing to integrate steering controls and hardware.
• Partner with procurement and Tier-1 suppliers for sourcing, SOW reviews, prototyping, and tooling sign-off.
• Conduct root-cause investigations (8D, DFMEA, Six Sigma) and analyze CAN data for warranty issues.
• Manage Bills of Materials and lead engineering change management to maintain build accuracy and cost targets.
