Job summary

Aspen Technology, Inc. in Mexico City is seeking a Software Developer I to contribute to manufacturing and supply chain software.

You will work with an Agile cross-functional team to implement features, fix defects, and write tests while growing your engineering skills under guidance. The role requires a bachelor's in a technical field or equivalent experience, 2–3 years of software development, and proficiency in languages such as C#, .NET, C++, Java or similar, with a solid foundation in OOP

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/SE/CE/Math or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–3 years of general software development experience.
• Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Academic, internship, personal-project, or professional experience developing software in C#, .NET, C++, Java, or a comparable language.
• Basic understanding of source control, debugging, APIs, databases, and the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements, ask clarifying questions, and work effectively with guidance.
• Strong learning mindset, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate in English in a global engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain software features under guidance from experienced engineers.
• Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into clear, maintainable implementations.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Agile Team Leads, developers, Quality Engineering, and Architecture to deliver working software.
• Participate in backlog refinement, iteration planning, daily coordination, reviews, retrospectives, and system demos.
• Write unit tests, support automated testing, and help investigate and resolve defects.
• Participate in code reviews, apply team standards, and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
• Document technical decisions and contribute to shared team knowledge.
• Build familiarity with MSC customer workflows and the product areas supported by the Agile team.
