University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC Asia) seeks a Site Support Specialist to provide on-site support for classes at Camp Humphreys, Korea. Responsibilities include setting up UMGC live streaming, first-line troubleshooting, keeping labs clean, assisting students, and coordinating with Logistics for equipment and resources.

The role requires flexibility for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, with part-time 75% FTE.

Formación

  • Set up and secure UMGC live streaming equipment before classes.
  • Troubleshoot LS issues and coordinate with Technical Support.
  • Maintain clean, presentable UMGC labs/rooms and enforce building rules.
  • Assist students with information and direct to resources as needed.
  • Manage live streaming inventory and notify supervisors of issues.
  • Provide after-hours/weekend staff support for access, proctoring, and setup.
  • Update and maintain office/classroom materials and postings.
  • Report issues to management and request resources as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Site Support Specialist
UMGC Asia
Location: Camp Humphreys, Korea
Overseas Contingent III, 75% FTE (Part-Time), Grade 002
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Provide on-site presence to support classes offered by all universities on base.
  • Open and secure building entrances and classrooms
  • Responsible for setting-up UMGC live streaming (LS) equipment prior to LS classes, serving asfirst-level trouble shooting technical support and coordination with Technical Support to immediately respond to LS issues, and securing LS equipment at the end of class meetings.
  • Ensure that building rules are abided by UMGC students and that all UMGC labs/rooms are clean and presentable.
  • Ensure that quality services are provided to all current and prospective students including being responsive to students and student issues, assisting with basic questions, and directing them to appropriate resources by maintaining general knowledge of UMGC programs to include catalog, class/term dates, and other basic information that students may ask about during breaks in class.
  • Maintain inventory and operability of live streaming equipment to ensure that assets are clean,updated, and ready for use in class, notifying Logistics Supervisors and/or managers when issues arise.
  • Provide staff and faculty support after hours/on weekends to include assisting with accessing computers, printing LS materials for remote sites and rosters, classroom, and testing setup/proctoring, as permitted per testing vendor policies, or proctoring make-up exams for face-to-face courses, etc.
  • Assist Program Coordinators to update, distribute, and maintain materials in and around offices andclassrooms including posters, flyers, schedules, room assignment postings, banners, etc.
  • Report any issues or incidents to management and request resources as appropriate to accomplishassigned duties.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma
  • Available for a flexible work schedule including early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic office management, computer,and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Successful applicants must be able to pass background check and meet requirements for individual logistic support (ILS)
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associatesdegreefrom a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign degree equivalent
  • Knowledge of basic technical computer and equipment skills, including basic troubleshooting
  • Customer service experience
  • Advanced computer skills, to include Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Generous Time Off:Enjoy between 15 and 25 days of paid vacation time off, depending on your years of service, 15 days of sick leave, 3 personal days, and 11 Federal holidays. Part-Time rates will be prorated based on Full-Time Equivalency.

  • Supplemental Retirement Plans: include 403(b), 457(b), and various Roth options. The university does not provide subsidies or matching funds.
  • Tuition Remission:CIII employees are eligible immediately for Tuition Remission at UMGC or at University of Maryland College Park. Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.
  • Moving Allowance: May be available based on terms, conditions, and agreements of the position.

$26,316.00

Additional Compensation:

Employees receive the applicable currency adjustment (CAX) subject to monthly DoD COLA Index for the work location, which is subject to change and fluctuation based on market indices.
