Functions and Responsibilities

• Promptly address any safety issues or incidents.
• Lead daily production operations.
• Ensure that the manufactured products meet the established quality requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining personnel and training plans within the business unit.
• Provide regular, timely, and specific feedback to associates.
• Provide a learning environment and challenge associates to meet higher expectations.
• Implement BD Excellence components and programs within the manufacturing unit.
• Ensure that an open flow of communication exists between production associates and management.
• Represent concerns of production associates to management as well as management concerns to production associates.
• Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices.
• Work with associates to resolve employee relations issues and concerns; involves HR when necessary.
• Actively participate and support continuous improvement activities.
• Collaborate with Production Planning to establish production schedules, monitor performance versus schedule for the department.
• Track the production metrics to ensure that department goals are being met.
• Communicate the metrics and progress to associates and management.
• Train associates to be responsible for safety, quality, production, costs, cleanliness and compliance with general policies.
• Ensure that safety and quality standards are achieved and drive production performance to meet objectives and schedules.
• Ensure compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field. 1–3 years of experience supervising personnel in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Skills

• Organizational and manage time skills to meet deadlines and high–level goals.
• Ability to influence and build good working relationships according to BD Values.
• Effective oral/written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Bilingual English and Spanish (preferred).
