Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific (Planta Tijuana) seeks an Injection Molding Engineering Supervisor to lead the molding engineering function, overseeing process engineering, manufacturing engineering, and new product industrialization. You will drive robust processes, manufacturability, and operational stability.

You will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective execution of process development, validation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and product transfer

Qualifications

• Experience leading or coordinating engineering projects related to process development, validation, troubleshooting, product transfers, or industrialization.
• Experience participating in validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ), NPI, or process qualification projects.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including operations, quality, tooling, and commercial functions.
• Demonstrated ability to guide technical decisions and support engineers in solving complex process challenges.
• Experience mentoring, guiding, or supervising engineers or technical personnel.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Formal leadership training or supervisory certification (preferred).
• Scientific molding certification or advanced technical training (preferred).
• Experience supporting global product transfers or multi-site manufacturing environments (preferred).
• Experience interacting directly with customers or supporting customer technical reviews (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the molding engineering team, including process and manufacturing engineers and technicians.
• Establish clear technical priorities, performance expectations, and engineering standards.
• Identify capability gaps within the team and drive training, mentoring, and technical development initiatives.
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional growth of team members.
• Ensure robust execution of process development, validation, troubleshooting, and industrialization activities across the molding engineering function.
• Establish technical priorities aligned with operational performance, product requirements, and long-term manufacturing strategy.
• Promote best practices in scientific molding, process control, and continuous improvement.
• Drive adoption of new molding technologies, materials, and engineering methodologies.
• Oversee execution of engineering projects from concept through production stabilization, ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, and quality targets.
• Allocate engineering resources effectively based on business priorities and project demands.
• Monitor project progress and remove technical or organizational barriers impacting execution.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process stability, productivity, quality, and cost performance.
• Ensure structured problem-solving approaches are applied across the team.
• Review technical decisions and ensure
• Serve as the primary technical interface between engineering, operations, quality, tooling, suppliers, customers, and commercial teams.
• Represent the molding engineering function in customer meetings, audits, and technical reviews.
• Ensure regulatory, validation, and quality requirements are met across engineering activities.
