An energy consulting firm is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst in Mexico. The role involves conducting market analysis of Mexico's Wholesale Electricity Market, managing client relationships, and improving analytical processes using tools like Excel and Power BI. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in the energy sector and proficiency in English. This is a full-time position with opportunities for travel for assignments across Mexico and the U.S.

Formación

Our multidisciplinary team includes over 70 professionals with experience across various segments of the electricity market (generation, supply, trading, public and private sectors). We have developed strong relationships with direct interaction with different market participants, and have served more than 4,000 clients. For over 9 years, we have supported energy consulting services in Mexico, including energy supply procurement strategies, migration to the Wholesale Electricity Market, contract management and regulatory support, as well as market analysis, trends, and risk assessments.

The analyst will provide strategic support to clients through data analysis, report generation, and development of insights that enable better decision-making. The analyst is expected to work independently, identify relevant trends, and present findings clearly and professionally.

What you'll do
  • Market Analysis: Conduct analysis of Mexico's Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM) and produce clear, accurate reports; identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the Mexican energy market; review commercial energy supply options and assess regulatory changes.
  • Client and Supplier Management: Communicate effectively with clients and suppliers, providing clear market insights and guidance; address feedback on reports and internal processes; strengthen client relationships through strategic meetings.
  • Process Optimization: Improve analysis and reporting processes for accuracy and efficiency using tools such as Excel, Power BI, MySQL, and other data visualization platforms.
  • Event Participation: Represent the company at industry events in Mexico as needed, building strategic connections.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to align analysis and strategies with company goals in Mexico’s energy market.
What you'll bring
  • At least 3 years of experience in the energy sector, ideally in the MEM (Mercado Eléctrico Mayorista).
  • Ability to clearly present complex concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SQL, VBA, Python, SAS/R).
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with specialized software and clear presentation abilities.
  • Self-aware and confident; able to deliver and receive constructive feedback to advance Energyby5's efforts in the energy advisor/broker industry.
  • Team player who contributes to Energyby5's culture.
  • Ability to travel as needed on assignments across the United States and Mexico.
  • Proficiency in English – speaking, reading, and writing.
