Job summary

Rainforest Alliance is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to lead and scale our Unified Data & AI-ready Platform. You will design robust data pipelines on Databricks and ADLS Gen2, implement dimensional models, and support Power BI datasets and governance.

You will supervise a small team and coordinate across time zones to enable a follow-the-sun delivery model. The role requires hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL, Python and PySpark, plus strong collaboration with analysts, survey teams and

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating production data pipelines on Databricks or Spark-based platforms.
• Experience with dimensional modelling (star schema) and governance of data models.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to translate requirements into robust data models and queries.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation for non-specialists.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain production data pipelines on Databricks/ADLS Gen2.
• Translate requirements into dimensional models and queries.
• Build reusable platform components and extend SQL-based environments.
• Support Power BI datasets, reports and performance optimization.
• Administer Power BI Premium lifecycle activities and governance.
• Develop data visualisation methodologies and data extracts for BI.
• Embed data quality checks with analysts and field teams.
• Maintain clear documentation of ingestion, transformation and modelling logic.
• Collaborate with Data Platform Lead and regional teams for aligned architecture.
• Matrix-manage 3–5 engineers and handle escalations.
