Nouryon is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer based in Mexico to define the strategy and architecture for our enterprise data platform. You will lead the design and delivery of governed data products, optimizing pipelines for AI workloads.

The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in data engineering, deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory, and a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring onsite work.

Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the job

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the strategy and architecture of our enterprise data platform, ensuring it is scalable, efficient, and ready to enable advanced AI workloads (GenAI/RAG).

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver governed data products, establishing clear ownership, SLAs, and data contracts across the organization.
• Lead platform strategy, making critical architectural decisions, selecting technologies, and setting enterprise-scale engineering standards.
• Implement real-time data pipelines using Eventstream or Event Hubs, and optimize transformation logic using Delta Live Tables, dbt, or Fabric Notebooks.
• Define DataOps and automation standards, establishing CI/CD processes via Azure DevOps, Databricks Asset Bundles, and automated testing frameworks.
• Enable the platform for Artificial Intelligence, providing high-quality, AI-ready data for ML, RAG, and AI agents, integrating technologies such as Palantir Foundry and Fabric/Databricks.
• Ensure governance and observability, implementing automated data quality controls, data lineage via Purview/Unity Catalog, and proactive monitoring of costs and performance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
• Experience: 10+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, platforms, or data architecture, with 3–5 years at a senior/principal technical level owning strategy at an enterprise scale.
• Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and transformation languages (dbt, SQL, Python/Scala).
• Project Leadership: Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑workstream data platform projects end‑to‑end across engineering, analytics, IT, and business teams.
• Language: Professional proficiency in English for global collaboration.

Nice to have

• Additional technical experience in applied AI tools and ontology management.
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft Azure data platforms.
