Everforth Apex Systems Mexico is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable batch and streaming pipelines using Scala/Java and Apache Spark. You will contribute to an enterprise data platform, engage with data teams, and leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in data engineering, experience with Hive/Iceberg, Airflow, and strong collaboration skills across product and data stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

This team develops and supports a centralized data ecosystem that powers analytics, reporting, personalization, and operational applications across multiple business domains.The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing and developing batch and real-time data pipelines using modern data engineering technologies. In addition to technical expertise, this role requires strong collaboration skills, as engineers will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, source data teams, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, define data solutions, and ensure reliable delivery of business-critical data.A successful candidate will also be comfortable working in an AI-assisted development environment, leveraging modern code generation tools while applying engineering judgment to review, validate, test, and optimize generated solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesData Engineering & Development* Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.* Develop and optimize data processing solutions using Scala or Java and Apache Spark.* Implement data transformations, validations, and integrations across multiple data sources.* Support data ingestion, enrichment, and delivery into enterprise data stores.AI-Assisted Software Development* Utilize AI-powered coding tools to accelerate development and testing activities.* Create effective prompts to generate pipeline code and supporting components.* Review, validate, debug, and improve AI-generated code.* Collaborate on AI-assisted unit testing and deployment processes.Data Platform & Storage* Work with Hive and/or Iceberg-based data storage solutions.* Participate in discussions regarding data modeling, table design, and data architecture decisions.* Support evolving platform capabilities including API-based data delivery.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement* Partner with Product Managers to refine requirements and understand business needs.* Collaborate with source data teams, architects, and downstream data consumers.* Communicate technical solutions, dependencies, and project status effectively.* Participate in roadmap initiatives and cross-functional planning activities.Production Support* Investigate and resolve data pipeline failures and operational issues.* Support in-hours production incidents and data refresh requests.* Coordinate with impacted stakeholders and communicate resolution plans and timelines.Required Experience & Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.* **5+ years of experience** in Data Engineering or related roles.* Strong experience with **Scala or Java** development.* Strong hands-on experience with **Apache Spark**.* Experience designing and maintaining **batch and real-time/streaming data pipelines**.* Experience working with **Hive and/or Apache Iceberg** data storage technologies.* Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as **Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor**, or similar platforms.* Strong prompt engineering experience for software development use cases.* Experience debugging, reviewing, and validating generated code.* Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and Jira.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications* Experience with **Apache Airflow**.* Experience with **Cassandra**.* Knowledge of data modeling concepts and best practices.* Experience designing and creating Hive or Iceberg tables.* Exposure to API-driven data architectures.* Experience supporting production data platforms and operational troubleshooting.* Previous experience working on enterprise-scale data platforms.Technical StackCore Technologies* Scala* Java* Apache Spark* Hive* Apache IcebergTools & Platforms* Airflow* Jira* Claude AI* GitHub Copilot* Cursor* CassandraConcepts* Batch Processing* Streaming Data Pipelines* Data Engineering* Data Modeling* AI-Assisted Development* Prompt Engineering* Production Support* Data Platform Architecture *Everforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
