We are seeking a Data Engineer to work with various clients at our delivery center in Guadalajara, MX. Our mission at Apex Systems is providing Insights that Inspire. As a Data Engineer, you will help achieve that mission by giving our clients consultative guidance and technical expertise.

What you'll do:

• Work with business and product partners to understand their objectives and implement solutions to support their goals.
• Build traveler data products that form the foundation of personalization efforts at EG across user acquisition, marketing communications, in-app experiences, and customer support.
• Champion and exemplify an engineering culture of customer focus, engineering excellence, and continuous learning and improvement.
• Write quality code, define and implement test cases and monitor production systems effectively and efficiently.

Who you are:

• A data-focused engineer with experience and expertise in big data and graph technologies.
• 5+ years of work experience in software engineering.
• 3+ years’ experience in implementing Big Data applications (data ingestion, real-time data processing and batch analytics) in Big Data, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Hadoop, Map Reduce, Hive.
• Experience with Graph Databases like Neo4J, Amazon Neptune is desired.
• Server-side programming skills in multiple languages (Scala/Java and Python).
• Experience with different aspects of data systems including database design, data modeling, performance optimization, SQL etc.
• Experience with Cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, Azure.
• Proficient with workflow management tools (e.g. Airflow).
• A skilled practitioner of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiar with the e-commerce or travel industry.
• Must Have:
• Streaming - Kafka (producer/consumer APIs) - this is critical.
• Batch Processing - Spark.
• Cloud experience (prefer AWS but ok with Azure or Google).
