Are you a SCADA engineer ready to go beyond local operations, designing the digital systems that connect global manufacturing floors across the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific?

Join Corning's Optical Communications Division and become a key architect of the manufacturing intelligence systems that drive production at a world-class global scale.

Role Purpose

As a SCADA Engineer within Corning's Optical Communications manufacturing team, you will design, deploy, and maintain the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems that serve as the backbone of our automated and manual production processes. You will bridge plant-floor equipment with enterprise information and data systems, ensuring our global manufacturing sites operate with precision, reliability, and intelligence.

This is a high impact, cross functional role with a global footprint. You will collaborate with process engineers, automation vendors, and teams across Corning's worldwide operations to continuously evolve our manufacturing data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain SCADA systems that integrate automated and manual manufacturing equipment with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and enterprise data platforms, ensuring reliability, cybersecurity, and data integrity at all times.
  • Serve as the go-to technical expert for manufacturing data systems, guiding teams on SCADA architecture decisions, system integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives across global sites.
  • Partner with process engineering and automation vendors to define equipment interface specifications and deliver process data to data historians (PI System / AVEVA) at the right time and granularity.
  • Capture the Voice of the Customer from manufacturing sites globally and translate those needs into system design improvements, working in a team-based environment with minimal supervision.
Experiences/Education - Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent field of study.
  • +2 years of SCADA development experience using platforms such as Inductive Automation Ignition, GE iFix, or equivalent industrial SCADA tools.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, MQTT and experience integrating manufacturing equipment with MES or plant information systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and real-time control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of structured programming languages, Python, Java, and/or SQL applied to industrial automation or manufacturing data environments.
  • Bilingual English proficiency (written and verbal) essential for cross-functional collaboration with global teams across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Availability for up to 50% international travel (United States, Poland, China, and more); valid passport, título, and cédula required.
What We Offer?
  • Competitive compensation with benefits package above Mexican law requirements.
  • Relocation assistance available; we invest in bringing the right talent to our team.
  • Global exposure, travel and collaboration with teams across the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Career development in a growing, innovation-driven division with division-level system impact.
  • Collaborative team environment, work alongside manufacturing systems, process engineering, and project management experts.
  • World-class company, 170+ years of materials science innovation, trusted by global industry leaders.
