Corning Incorporated in Monterrey, Mexico invites you to lead a team of Automation and Controls Engineers to develop, implement, and scale advanced manufacturing equipment. As Process Automation Supervisor, you’ll provide technical leadership, deliver high‑impact automation projects, and collaborate with global teams and system integrators.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Automation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering in manufacturing.
  • 1+ year of supervisory, team leadership, or project management experience.
  • Conversational English; ability to collaborate with global teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including extended US travel in first 3–6 months.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems.

Responsabilidades

  • Lead and develop a team of Automation and Controls Engineers, including coaching and mentorship.
  • Drive design, startup, integration, and optimization of high-volume manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
  • Act as SME for PLCs, HMIs, motion control, machine vision, sensors, and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Manage automation projects from concept through production launch, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with external machine builders, system integrators, and internal stakeholders for innovative solutions.
  • Ensure engineering documentation and electrical drawing packages comply with Corning standards.
  • Support productivity, equipment reliability, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What is your role?

As a Process Automation Supervisor, you will lead a team of Automation and Controls Engineers responsible for developing, implementing, and scaling advanced manufacturing equipment and systems. You will provide technical leadership, execute high‑impact automation projects, and collaborate with global teams, system integrators, and manufacturing sites to deliver world‑class automation solutions.

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position:
  • Lead and develop a team of Automation and Controls Engineers, including coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
  • Drive the design, startup, integration, and optimization of high‑volume manufacturing equipment and automated systems.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, machine vision, sensors, and electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Manage automation projects from concept through production launch, ensuring successful delivery on time, within budget, and according to performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with external machine builders, system integrators, and internal stakeholders to implement innovative automation solutions.
  • Ensure engineering documentation and electrical drawing packages comply with Corning standards.
  • Support manufacturing productivity, equipment reliability, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What do you need to have?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Automation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory, team leadership, or project management experience.
  • Conversational English with the ability to collaborate with global teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, including extended travel to the United States during the first 3-6 months.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial automation systems, and equipment integration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing and production environments.
  • Beckhoff, Omron, or Allen‑Bradley PLC/HMI programming experience.
  • Structured Text programming knowledge.
  • Experience with SISTEMA safety evaluations.
  • Knowledge of SCADA platforms such as GE iFix, Ignition, or similar.
  • Experience with laser processing technologies.
  • Experience transferring new products or processes from development into full‑scale manufacturing.
