Job summary

The Coca-Cola Company is seeking a Safety Specialist for a strategic Greenfield project in Mexico. You will serve as the Safety SME, integrating safety throughout design, construction, commissioning and startup, collaborating with Engineering, operations and external partners to embed a culture of zero incidents.

You will apply Hierarchy of Controls, lead risk assessments and drive Safety by Design across manufacturing and utility areas, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 and related standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced English communication skills required.
  • Experience in Occupational Health & Safety within manufacturing, industrial or construction environments.
  • Experience supporting Greenfield, construction, major capital projects or manufacturing startup desirable.
  • Knowledge of Safety by Design, risk assessment methodologies and Hierarchy of Controls.
  • Experience in Contractor Safety Management, including training, field inspections and corrective action follow-up.
  • Technical knowledge of Machine Safeguarding, LOTO, work at height, confined spaces, fire protection, industrial hygiene and chemical safety.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and applicable occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Experience supporting safety audits, incident investigations and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and strengthen a Safety and Accident Prevention culture across all phases of the Greenfield project.
  • Build and embed a Zero Incident culture from design through startup and operations.
  • Coordinate and execute Contractor Safety Management activities, including safety requirements, training, inspections, metrics and follow-up.
  • Drive Safety by Design across Manufacturing, Warehouse, Utilities, Laboratories and supporting areas.
  • Serve as the project Safety SME for facility layouts, safeguarding, LOTO, traffic routes, risk assessments, PPE and other safety requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Utilities, Warehouse and Laboratory teams to integrate safety into design.
  • Conduct and support safety risk assessments using the Hierarchy of Controls.
  • Support construction, equipment installation, commissioning and startup to ensure Safe to Build and Safe to Operate.
  • Ensure compliance with KORE, KOSMOS, ISO 45001 and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and support proactive safety programs based on BBS and HOP principles.

You will serve as the **Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME)** for the project, helping ensure that safety requirements are effectively integrated throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, startup and operational readiness phases of the new facility.We are looking for a safety professional who combines strong technical expertise with a hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively with Engineering, contractors, equipment suppliers and Operations teams.
