You will work on clearly scoped codebases and tackle debugging, feature development, refactoring, migrations, testing, and technical reviews. This role is ideal for engineers seeking flexible, remote project work alongside other commitments, with compensation on a per-project basis and hourly rates based on expected time.

Qualifications

• 2–7 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python
• Professional experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
• Working knowledge of Java, C#, or Go
• Backend or full-stack experience with production systems
• Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go testing
• Ability to navigate and debug large, multi-file codebases
• Experience with code reviews, refactoring, and production migrations
• Advanced professional written proficiency in English
• Strong attention to detail and technical problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Debug and resolve issues across complex, multi-file codebases
• Implement new backend or full-stack functionality
• Refactor and migrate existing systems
• Develop and extend unit and integration test suites
• Write clear technical specifications and reference implementations
• Review code and technical submissions for correctness and quality
• Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure modes
• Validate that requirements, code, tests, and outputs are aligned
• Projects are individually scoped, allowing contributors to take on work based on availability and expertise
