Placements24 seeks a visionary Director of Mining Operations to provide strategic leadership for a global mining portfolio. This fully remote executive role focuses on managing assets, safety, and profitability across Hermosillo, Sonora, MX and beyond.

The ideal candidate will have 15+ years in large-scale mining operations, demonstrated expertise in safety, cost control, and digital transformation, and the ability to lead globally distributed teams with strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
• PhD is a plus.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership in large-scale mining operations.
• Proven track record of safety, cost efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Strong strategic planning, financial management, and capital allocation skills.
• Exceptional leadership and ability to lead globally distributed teams.
• Deep knowledge of mining technologies, automation, and digital transformation.
• Understanding of environmental sustainability and CSR in mining.
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments in Mexico.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term operational strategies to maximize shareholder value.
• Provide executive leadership for all mining operations, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Manage budgets, CapEx, and resource allocation across sites.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve recovery.
• Lead and mentor senior operational managers and site leaders.
• Foster a strong safety culture and robust risk management.
• Oversee deployment of new mining technologies and digital solutions.
• Engage with government agencies, communities, and industry partners.
• Report performance and progress to the executive board.
