A financial services company based in Mexico is seeking a Legal Consultant to provide legal advice and support on various transactions. Candidates should have a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree and 6-10 years of experience in a law firm. The role demands strong knowledge of U.S. laws and excellent English communication skills. World Business Lenders (WBL) provides general purpose short-term real estate collateralized commercial loans to a broad customer base comprised of small and medium sized businesses throughout the United States that lack access to traditional funding.

This is a Contract/Consultant position. Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements. The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support on transactions, particularly those involving troubled assets, restructurings, bankruptcies, litigation, and portfolio administration.
  • Support the business in preparing for trial proceedings and settlement negotiations.
  • Work closely with lawyers and paralegals to ensure effective legal representation.
  • Assist in establishing in Corporate Governance activities.
  • Monitor regulatory environments to identify emerging compliance risks and requirements; develop strategic responses and guide cross-functional teams in implementing risk-based solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Travel to US as needed for on‑site requirements.
Requirements
  • Law degree (Juris Doctor or international equivalent such as LLB or LLM); from a nationally accredited U.S. law school preferred.
  • 6-10 years of experience with law firm required, in‑house desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal state laws, regulations and licensing requirements related to residential and commercial mortgage lending and corporate governance.
  • Strong understanding of litigation processes, discovery, document management and legal filings.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review and negotiate legal documents with superior legal research and writing skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
